Now it’s time to be scared;
Larissa’s playing nice.
We all must be prepared
for some insidious vice.
It may be possible
she’s just here for some fun;
but it’s likely trouble
that hasn’t yet begun.
She’s spending her own cash,
and buying drinks for all.
Is she just acting flash
to get them in her thrall?
You’re a good poet ^^
“Good poet! Have a cookie…” 🙂
Ooh, cookie! Nom.
Okay, so it’s clear that Larissa is actively deceiving at least Liz, possibly Dinah as well. On the other hand, her being willing to get drinks is not necessarily an effort at manipulation so much as just her enjoying having money of her own. I know my boyfriend can get a bit recklessly generous when he gets a windfall, even when he’s normally on a tight budget.
I want to know how I managed to typo “best friend” such that my autocorrect rendered it as “boyfriend”. Last time I post a comment on my mobile.
I suppose Autocorrupt is also what corrupts “autocorrupt” into “autocorrect” so often.
Assuming a “decent” modern autocorrect, just missing the space would be enough to do it.
If you’re on an iPhone, depending on its mood, just typing ‘best friend’ could be enough to do it.
This is one of the dangers of using a statistical modeling engine and calling it an AI. Artificial, sure, Intelligent, not really.
Buying drinks is definitely an attempt to smooth things over for what happened at the museum, though :p
Yay! You’re here! E-Hugs
Thanks 😀 I’m getting back into my regular routine from before my issues started. It’s been a journey :p
Woohoo! Look who’s back! {le glomp}
“Mr. Dassen, welcome back; we missed you.”
(Just adding to the e-hug pileup~)
So Larissa tries to buy their loyalty with tasty drinks. I wonder if the other two are going to try and use Larissa like they used Cleo before?
That would be ironic… and really funny once Larissa figured it out. LOL
Seeing as Larissa is pretty much the leader of the gang, I doubt they would get away with that xD
Hmmm, not sure what to think on this one just yet. It’s good to see Larissa picking up the tab, maybe if she does that more often she might come to appreciate Cleo’s position on why she split with them. Dinah’s expression there in panel 5, I think clearly she still needs to come to understand that! What else: well it’s clear Liz is harboring a small grudge over the museum incident. That may have an influence on what happens later, we’ll see what develops.
I haven’t yet seen any indication that Dinah has anything but muscle between her ears.
Liz definitely has a little grudge about what happened :p
It’s a trap! *Scoot scoot*
scoot to or away from the trap? :p
I get the feeling that she’s saying she’ll pay for drinks because she wants something, mostly from Liz.
Yeah. Based on her comments on this page, it looks like Liz is the wealthiest person remaining in the group. I’d guess this is a one treat milked for as much as it can be scam.
That said, we all knew something was going down before the last page, and so far, this hasn’t really shown what that is. All it’s shown is Larissa can apparently think a couple of plots at once.
You might be right :p
I can’t see Larissa’s bald spots anymore. Did her hair finish regrowing in the last few in-comic seconds?
Yes. …or it’s a comb-over. 😉
Yeah, probably automatically ruffled her hair a bit after talking about it last comic. I’ve noticed Humans do that some times, you point something out, then they react to it, even if they don’t know they’re doing it. Must be a Human thing…
Daniel here, hijacking what was originally MY Gravatar account…
I would like to point out that Screwball had some…… unpleasant material on his foot a while ago, and despite cleaning it off, for the rest of the WEEK he he would keep instinctively trying to scrape it off his foot on the ground without even knowing he was. Seems it’s a Cybertronian thing too…
Same goes for grumbling sadly in a corner when publicly proven wrong… 😛
they didn’t regrow, I just plainly forgot xD
I wonder if Larissa is going to have a shoes on the other foot moment now that she is the one in the friend group with money
Seeing how Larissa talks about Liz’s allowance, she clearly thinks that Liz is the one with money now – but mooching off of Liz would be counterproductive to Larissa’s scheme right now.
True, but also notice the look Dinah gave her in the second to last panel
Larissa is not one that would let her be taken advantage of. She’s the one to take advantage of others :p
I was thinking more that Dinah tries only for Larissa to either eventually snap at her or call her out, only for Liz to call Larissa out on her hypocrisy
Well ; seems that Larissa is sweetening the girls before the revelation about what she plans …….
Theory : the dog-boy behind them will be at the restaurant later and chatting about what he had heard , warning Marco and the twins … ??
I love the little stare from Dinah in the second to last panel. I do have to wonder now though how this group functions without Cleo financially speaking. They always seemed to rely on her for money, so it seems like they might still have some residual habits of expecting someone else to pay for them. I could be reading too deeply into things of course, but honestly it would make sense, and who could fault them after that being their modus operandi for so long? I thoroughly enjoyed this week’s panel Robin, especially the subtle little body language you seem to have skillfully dotted into each little interaction. It’s fascinating trying to get a read on each character. You certainly make them feel natural. Keep up your amazing work, and as always, stay awesome!
you have apoint, seeing how long they pulled their mooching bs with cleo, i doubt those three even remember what real friendship is supposed to be like – and are now mooching off whomever currently has the most money between those three…..which might work for a while, right until the moment all three are broke at the same time. then all HELL will break loose
Brings to mind the old saying “Old habits die hard.”
“In today’s comic, Larissa is treating everyone.”
How badly? 😏
Brace for impact everyone something is going down
I would’ve thought the Blonde-haired girl would’ve leave them after her talk with nate.
It’s difficult to break long term bonds with controlling figures like that.
OH!! Cleo’s old “friends!” I was wondering who these “new characters” were. XD;
…I’m Autistic. One of the effects is that I’m *horrible* at names and faces, and I didn’t go through the archive or anything to identify them – I just figured we’d learn eventually. ^_^;
But yeah, unless someone – in real life or otherwise – has a look that REALLY makes them stand out from a crowd, I usually need a reference to something like an *event* to realize who they are: something about what that *did.* THAT’S easy for me to remember. =3
The hybrids are usually pretty easy for me to identify since they’re mixed in a world of humans. (If there’s, say, an all-furry comic, the cast can still blur together. Speaking from experience.) It also helps that their designs are pretty distinct, and they were introduced gradually. =3
…But yeah. Some info for future reference. ^_^;
And Larissa then proceeeds to roofie Liz (in a family-friendly manner) for a nerfarious purpose.
