Already want to tell the kid in #2 it’ll be OK…
Well, there’s certainly Lizards here,
like the one walking out the door;
but they’re not all happy to be here –
someone get that kids’ chin off the floor?
The receptionist is nice, of course
but they’re in for quite a shock
when they realise there’s no typo
it’s to the Romero’s the doctors will flock.
Now they’re on the right path,
heading to their date with the pros.
I still wonder if this is for good or ill
but, I guess, we’ll see how it goes.
i´m looking forward to the docs face when they realize nope, no typo at all 😉
That’s gonna be something to look at xD
I have returned to the future to comment on two weeks at once. TWO WEEKS AT ONCE. AHAHAHAHAHAAHA- Oh. Ahem. Sorry. Anyway, I was away last week, so I have had the great fortune of seeing two pages of Twin Dragons in one day. Firstly, last week. I love Cleo’s attempt at a joke. The joke kinda fell a little flat, which I suppose was the intent because it was from Cleo and Kaya did say it was a poor one. Kaya’s reaction to it, however, was priceless. This comic has probably made me laugh more than any other one comic before. As for this week’s comic, lots of varied characters here. Also, thanks for the spider backpack. I’m on mobile and saw it near my finger out the corner of my eye while scrolling, and got jumpscared. I nearly dropped my phone from a kid’s backpack. I am disappointed in myself. As for the doctors, aren’t they in for a surprise when they find out that the twins weren’t kidding when they wrote their hybrid type as “Dragon”. Hopefully they take the news of TWIN mythicals well. Probably mixed fear and excitement should be expected here. I’ve refrained from commenting on the artwork of each week individually for the sake of comment length, but that doesn’t mean I’m any less astounded by it. Each detail, from the facial expressions expressed during Kaya and Cleo’s exchange to the architectural design and relative class of the hospital, has been hand crafted to perfectly and seamlessly connect with the story. I never spot contradictions in the story or mistakes in the artwork. In the span of a week an entirely new segment of a world is created, and I have been honored to be along watching the journey. Keep up the good work Robin. Keep being so amazing. And as always, stay awesome!
You got some nice writing there, but PLEASE, structure your text.
It´s a pain in the @$$ to read your comment.
LOL You don’t help enough with reading your little brother’s/sister’s homework; 🙂 🙂 🙂 This is easy by comparison!
Come on man, it’s Summer vacation. Don’t make me use my brain. xD In all seriousness though, I type these things up on mobile where I can see like, half of the previous sentence I typed. That’s it. So proofreading doesn’t really happen when I write these comments. I just say what comes to mind and how I feel about the comic. I’m sorry if that bothers you. Just trying to show an amazing artist some appreciation.
I think this is the longest comment to date, Alpha xD Thanks! I really appreciate your insights and I read it all the way through every time ^^
Cleo’s jokes do need some work, but seeing where she came from, she’s really opening up if she’s attempting jokes with Kaya ^^ Sorry for the spider scare with the backpack. Didn’t think it would scare anyone xD
About the architectural design of the hospital, I wanted to show kind of a children’s hospital with a colorful interior while keeping it a hospital. This because all the hybrids are technically still children (although the 16 year olds will have a word to say about being labeled a child still :p ). The vast majority of hybrids will be young kids, so a suitable environment to put them at ease is a nice thing to have.
Well, I did have two weeks to cover instead of one. Twice the writing should be present. xD It’s nice that you read through everyone’s comments. It always makes a community feel extra special when the artist pays them mind. As for the children’s hospital concept, you totally nailed it. I’ve been inside actual children’s hospitals that are less inviting and look more like the formal, groan-up thing. If the whole art thing fails, you should consider a career in interior design. xD Keep up the good work man. You’re amazing.
Ah, assumptions begin. I certainly hope they become better-informed sooner rather than later!
They are there for them to BECOME better informed, so it´s a mere question of hours.
And probably a few burned curtains XD
hmm, it might be somewhere in between sooner and later xD
Larissa’s mom?
Also, I like how that bit of hair in the fourth panel kind of makes it look like Kaya is giving crazy-eyes at someone standing off-panel.
That’s actually Kaya’s long, girlish eyelashes; 😉 but you are right, it does! Glad you pointed that out. 🙂
Gotta disappoint you there, that’s not Larissa’s mom :p
This “roo”(?) boy doesn’t seem very happy to be here . But WHAT ………. Drago is going out , already got his exam : this ruins my hope to see him have it . I hate you , Robin *gone to suicide himself* XD
Le OMG : someone not knowing what dragons are ??? Where the receptionist is living 0_o
First of all, random suicide “joke”? That’s… not okay imo.
Also, of course she knows what dragons are. She just doesn’t believe that they actually are dragon hybrids.
That’s my life , so i do what i want : suicide me , jump by the window , listen justin Bieber’s song , etc XD
This made me laugh way harder than it should have.
But be quiet , it happens only when i’m very very disappointed as today . So once or twice in a year ^_^
Haha, sorry Panther xD
That’s an otter, actually. He’s not in the greatest mood, but that has nothing to do with the medical :p
I’m sure he’ll be better once he leaves. Though that’s less to do with any actual ‘doctorin’ and more to do with if he can find himself a method of self medication in there.
I’m not sure how Yony would react to being called a kangaroo, that IS a new one. He’s just moody about Kaya trying to ape his style.
Heh right, we’ll see how long that “lizard” assumption holds should one or both of the twins decides to correct that! Let’s just hope they don’t set off the hospital’s sprinklers if they do!
Spider backpack, spider backpack
does not actually help kids climb walls
much to parents relief
and children’s disappointment!
Man that one lizard guy whom we’ve seen before is really gonna be tall when he’s got his full growth! Still in high school and he’s already got Mr. Romero beat by a couple of inches!
I would be amused if Kai and Kaya hit a growth spurt, or two, or three, and we ended up with a couple of fifty foot fire-breathing dragons running around. 🙂
Drago, the komodo, is 16 years old and won’t grow all that much anymore from now. He’s already tall enough as it is xD
Good thing the spider backpack doesn’t help him climb. Being a spider hybrid, he has no trouble climbing or sticking to the wall (or ceiling) as it is. He can produce sticky silk from his mouth so he sticks really well xD
Oh the kid is actually a spider hybrid, cool! Hmmmmmm….
Old Business Man: “Oh drat and bother, that gust of wind blew some important papers out of my briefcase and onto that high balcony! Whatever am I to do?”
Spider Kid: “Don’t worry mister I’ll get them!” *quickly scales the building to the balcony and climbs down*
Old Man: “Why thank you lad! You really saved me from a lot of trouble!”
Spider Kid: “No problem sir! Just being your regular friendly neighborhood spider kid!”
Oh, just noticed taking a second look Drago’s (reading other comments helps!) girlfriend is with him. She’s mostly obscured by Mr. Romero but you can see just a bit of her head and tail. Neat little addition!
OH yes ; only Viper’s hairs and tail are visible
Great! You two just totally ruint the first line of my comment on Kai’s DA page! LOL!
it’s the tiny details that help bring a page to life 🙂
At the hospital
Romeros getting checked in
Man, this place is big!
The receptionist
Thinks the twins are lizards
She’s in for a shock
Jesse’s Adventure, panel 1: Jesse’s response to Miss Penning should come before the scream.
Yes, indeed. I make these pages in one sitting on stream, and I usually leave the result as is. This started out as an experiment to see how fast I could get the drawings out, so that’s why they’re in sketch and it started out with text and a couple panels.
Looking over it, the order of the bubbles is wrong. I’ll fix that later on but for now, I’ll leave it. Thanks for telling me always, though. I take these things with me for the future.
I don’t know if it’s cute or sad that Kaya is impressed by an elevator. And is the kid with the spider backpack a spider hybrid? And is the cat kid in front of the potted plant a boy or girl? I can’t quite tell.
Let’s go with cute xD
Yes, that’s a spider hybrid, and the one in front of the potted plant is actually an otter and he’s a boy.
The spider is called Matthias and the otter is called Yony. According to Yony’s creator, he’s a little edge lord and that’s why he wears a pink hoodie xD
I WANT that backpack!
That backpack seems to be way too popular xD
I swear Kaya is more puppy than dragon if she gets this easily excited by everything.
someone else mentioned her being part cat before. The poor girl will get an identity crisis xD
Hmmmm.
So “Mythicals” must be an extremely rare form of hybrid if the nurse at the city hospital thinks its a joke…..
Wonder if there are minotaur or centaur hybrids……
>>”…centaur hybrids…..”
Tries to remember if we’ve ever seen a full-length view of Zuri… 😉
Yes , we have : https://www.twindragonscomic.com/comic/spying-commences/
Wouldn’t a minotaur just be a bull hybrid?
they are indeed very rare. There are no centaur hybrids, though :p
Uh oh, looks like dragons are considered fictional in this world, the exams clearly gonna lead to alot of shock.
A LOT of archaeologists, naturalists, paleontologists, and history doctoral theses are going to have to be rewritten… 😉
Uproar! That’s what I should have said.
Yeah, this is gonna end well xD
“Kay Romano please. Welcome to your annual exam. I’m Dr. Saint George. This won’t take long. Let’s see. I have a few questions for you.”
Misunderstandings ensu
Yeah, there’s a good chance for that xD
Who assigns and names species? I assume the doctors and associated bureaucrats at the place where they were born.
I wonder at what point they were defined as ‘dragons’ and not just lizards. Was it before of after they first breathed fire?
Kaya is very easily impressed.
Well, there are quite a few varieties of lizard that are termed “dragon” – including the largest lizard currently alive, the komodo dragon.
The Chinese water dragon is about the right color.
None of them have ears like these kids’, though.
These kids are pretty unique ^^
Yup, Kaya is easily excited. Wouldn’t you want to be excited over stuff all the time? xD
In the early years of hybrids, parents could just fill in what they wanted and a lot of nonsense happened. The twins were defined dragons later on, when they started breathing fire (straight into the curtains) and their parents had it adjusted.
First off, that spider backpack is cute, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Kaya with something similar sometime in the future, of course, given how she is around Dinosaurs (mostly T-Rex) it wouldn’t be all too surprising to see her with dinosaur themed stuff in the future. Secondly, that receptionists passing comment in the last frame has me wondering just how much she knows about the frequency of the different types of hybrids.
All that said, I’m curious to see how things are going forward.
And on a side note, building Shinobi in game like D&D doesn’t require them to have their own class or subclass, that probably would help with getting the archetype right and provide more diversity for players in terms of what you can build as a character, but it does require some cultural and historical knowledge to build their foundation right. Shinbobi (Ninja for the male variant and Kunoichi for the female variant) has a lot rules, practices, tactics, and so on that made them as effective as they were, a lot of the more well-knonw shinobi in popular media seem to disregard a good portion of the tenants of what makes a good shinboi either because the ones doing the writing didn’t do the proper research or just didn’t care because they thought ignorance of these things mad for a more interesting story, assuming they did the research at all. Why say all this? Because Ninjas are awesome, and I’m assuming Kai wanted to make his character as much like a Ninja as possible, given his character’s emphasis on subtlety while Kaya’s is on the opposite end of the spectrum, her character has the subtly of an exploding freight train going full speed down the tracks near a populated area while loaded with fireworks that are ignited by said trains explosion. Gaijin Goomba has a series, on YouTube, called Which Ninja, a series that breaksdown different shinobi in popular media and shows how good they really are when compared to historical and verified information regarding shinobi, one of my favoite episodes is the Batman episode, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_Zd3AsMDWg, and there’s also episodes for Shredder and the Ninja Turtles, along with others various other series and franchises
I’m not saying the shinboi in your favorite series could be a bad character, that’s a debate I would rather not get into, but chances are they might actually fail as a proper ninja. A little research can change a lot of about your perceptions and perspectives. Case and point, Hobgoblins. Now, the moment you read that word you probably jumped straight to the the Goblin Slayer series and their portrayal in the series or D&D and what the monster manual and your Dungeonmaster/Gamemaster said about hobgoblins; but the source material, European lore, says something very different than what most movies, RPGS, novels, anime, and so on have said about the hobgoblin. In European lore the hobgoblin is actually a helpful creature that resides in the home and helps out around the house, they’re less military minded and more domestically oriented than you’ve probably been led to believe, Gaijin Goomba did a video on that too, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5je4rz1HGVI
My point is cultural and historical context can lead in directions you didn’t anticipate, they are very much something to consider moving forward
That about shinobi is very interesting. Thanks for including that.
Kaya with dinosaur themed stuff? I wouldn’t dream of it xD (Which means it’s absolutely a possibility xD )
Hmm.. Spiderkid is…interesting. 🙂 On the one hand the spider legs look like they might be just part of a ‘stylish’ backpack. On the other hand, his face, hands, and coloring shout “Hybrid!” of some sort. Is the backpack perhaps a clever bit of camoflage and those are -real- spider legs? Or, perhaps his -little- brother is the spider and he’s riding, hidden inside the backpack? Nice job on the creases where he’s pulling on Mom’s shirt!
Poor otter-kid looks like he may have been dropped off and isn’t real keen on the whole thing alone. More likely a parent is just off-panel doing the check-in paperwork; but, he still doesn’t look happy. Poor guy. (Tell me his last name is “Polo”. 😉 )
Hope the nice lady doesn’t find out the hard way that “lizard” is an insult when referring to a dragon. 😉 (It is to mine anyway, but then, my dragons aren’t hybrids. 😉 🙂 )
It looks like he and his dad may be crocodile/alligator-hybrids.
From what I can see anyway.
Seeing as the very first page of the comic stated that the first hybrid was 16 years ago, if there are any hybrid Daddies their kids ain’t gonna be that big.
Also, I think Croc lookin kid is the Senpai from the Basketball team.
I don’t think the kid is an otter : no round ears ; thinking to a roo , for my part ……… Kid with backpack : short muzzle and big hands with grey skin ; i bet for a reptile type gecko
The kid is a spider hybrid and has a spider backpack because he just loves spiders xD
I don’t know the last name of the otter (he’s a cameo character) but his first name is Yony ^^
About the insult, I think it depends on the context of said conversation if it’s an insult or not.
What the H*** is up with the comments? I had a comment on this page, a rather large one, got confirmation that it had gone through but then when I return to the page that same comment is no longer here. Can anyone explain why?
Sorry, Ben. That’s my spam filter at work. If you add more than one link in your comment, it needs to be approved manually by me. This rarely happens so I don’t look at it so often, so it’s a good thing to leave a comment like you did when it does.
I approved it just now ^^
Thanks, I usually don’t put in more than one link if I do more than link when I do put links
Is it bad that I want that minecraft spider backpack?
No,certainly not, but you might have to fight people over it xD It’s very popular.
If the twins are anything like me, they might want to consider charging cash as soon as the doctor starts bringing in colleagues and students to have a look.
Just speaking as someone who has a rare medical condition.
Might be lucrative xD
I’m worried now. hope the species confusion at the desk doesn’t cause any issues!
Can’t wait to see the doctors reaction when/if they breath fire
You know there will be issues xD
I’m guessing they don’t see too many dragons at the hospital. The staff are going to be in for a surprise. Looks like Drago just got done with his checkup.
The fact that Drago, Viper, and the Spiderbackpackkid are all walking out calmly helps to reassure me that this check-up thing is legit. Now we just have to make sure someone doesn’t get carried away by the fact that s/he is working with actual -dragons-.
Given how Kai and Kaya are the only two dragons around, no, they don’t get any dragons at all xD
So, when their medical papers are first registered or something (I assume at birth?), is the “species” field for hybrids just a “fill in the blank” that the parents enter and the hospitals don’t really bother or care to double-check or something? This also seems to imply that these two might be the first case of a hyrbid that’s a fantasy/mythological species rather than of an existing animal.
The first years of hybrids being born was a mess in the registration forms. Many parents didn’t know what species their kid was and some of them wanted to make them extra special by registering them as mythical animals. It’s no wonder hospitals are more than skeptic about such claims.
Little do they know, they finally found a match xD
There might have been additional confusion. On one hand, we have dragons, possibly a unicorn hybrid somewhere…I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a fox with more than one tail…on the other hand, someone might have had a goat hybrid with a different level of trait expression and called a “satyr.”
Well, if you need me for a consult…
