Bishonen Rexy XD! And accidentally tapping the die with the cup: it’s always the little mistakes that get ya!
Accidentally?
Yes accidentally. She’s all aflutter from her contact with Rex and if you’ll notice in panel 5 her eyes are closed while her face is still tilted up towards Rex, not paying a bit of attention to the cup as she picks it up. I really do believe that was an accident and Amy didn’t notice because she was so focused on Rex.
I like to think it could be subconsciously intentional, if that makes any sense?
Like, she wants Rex to win, so her luck is skewing things “in her favor” so that Rex gets the win. =3
I’m pretty sure she’s actually throwing the game. After all, if she wins, then there’s no way for Kai to continue the hunt, which would be really boring for the birthday boy.
It’s funny how you’re all discussing whether the tipping of the die was intentional or not, while nobody* seems to realize that it didn’t affect the outcome of the bet at all. Panel 7 tells us that these are dice with 1-2-3 placed clockwise around the corner of the die, which means that on the tipping die the unlabeled face becoming the bottom has to be the 3. Thus the tipping (intentionally or accidentally) changed a 2 into a 4, leaving the sum odd as it was before.
*probably not even the author
The question now is how much of that smile is Amy vision and if it looks like a snarl to anyone else.
Last panel looks like she threw the game to me
Daniel here…
Hmmm, naa, Rex shorted out part of her brain as well as her luck, causing her to knock the dice as she lifted the cup. If she had of lifted it vertically, her luckyness would have kept it her win, but she ended up messing it up…
Matt, a character in Wheel of Time, had crazy luck and was known for winning. Except when losing was more beneficial to him. I was thinking this maybe one of those cases. 😀
It was a riddle. Rex figured it out. Read his ‘bet’ again, CAREFULLY.
I already said Rex is smart. Now we know he’s SMARTER than I. 😉 🙂
So, all they need to do to distort Amy’s luck by having her directly interact with Rex for a few seconds. Benji’s probably taking notes on all this.
As she was choosing it was her luck versus her luck. The result she wanted may have been modified by interacting with Rex.
Ah, Panel 6. I used to do that when bilking my classmates when we played liars dice, with a bit of care and a lot of practice the dice results can be manipulated to fit your needs. Something tells me this young lady is destined to run the best crooked casino anywhere in Hybrid City.
Yes. We have seen only dice, not much that a skilled magician (our world) can’t do, using only physical skill and prior preparation.
Not certain what limits are in this world. We have not seen any actual proof re the actual existence of the invisible friend vs “all in his head”. Dragon fire is just chemistry.
It’s glamour/romance vision! Aaaah!!!
Looks like that definitely threw Amy’s focus off.
Warning! Warning! Systems malfunctioning! Recalibrate and restore function immediately!
Too late, battle lost, time to hand over the prize…
Hmmmm… I’m still trying to determine whether Panel 6 is meant to show her skewing the results somehow or just the dice leaving the cup. In mean in theory there should be no way to know whether you’d be flipping the die in your favor or not, but who knows? Either way great work as always Robin. I know I’ve been pretty late on actually commenting lately (or missing doing so entirely) but I’ve been keeping up with the comic and reading it always brings a smile to my face. Loved the One Punch Man reference in the last one. Keep up the good work, and as always, stay awesome!
Missed the One Punch man reference.
I’m hearing harps playing in panel 2.
Bishie Rex! That cracks me up! I wonder what bishie Kai would look like? Probably the same as normal, he’s already pretty bishie as is! As the tides finally shift back into Team Kai’s favor (finally), I have to ask if Amy’s fumbling the dice was deliberate or accidental? If it was on purpose, how would she be certain it would end up as odd? And is this the first time she’s done this in this game? The internal bunny screaming may be so loud Kai can hear it!
The internal bunny was screaming so loudly that *Kaya* could hear it!
Daniel here…
I’m curious how many characters in-comic if any have picked up on Amy’s crush on Rex. Yes, we get the notes, symbols, icons & “Amy Vision”, but how much are the characters picking up? I know I’ve had people crush on me and I was completely oblivious until it was either FAR too late or somebody told me, still too late tho…
I don’t think Rex has picked up on it, maybe thinking he’s intimidating her a bit too much, but maybe someone else will pick up on it? If Kaya was there, she’d probably have a ship seaworthy in no time, probably with Rex & some of the rest trying to sink it, but since it’s only Kai & Benji there too, I see only Benji potentially picking up on Amy’s crush, since he already knows her…
He broke her luck,
although not really.
Her dream was him
being touchy-feely.
Her senses swim
Under the gaze of Rex.
Her brain goes ‘pop’
as his muscles flex.
That gentle voice;
that sweetest tone…
C’mon, our Rex,
throw her a bone!
Amy is close of an heart attack . If a doctor puts a stethoscope on her chest , he’ll hear a powerful earthquake ^_^”
*they’ll
You’ll have to ask the doctor.
The doctor split into multiple people?
I allowed for the possibility that the doctor could be either sex.
I’ve said “a doctor” : when it’s neutral , the gender is male (grammatical rule)
Technically it may be considered correct if they have multiple personalities / identities. Especially if more than one is a Doctor.
She’s pretty good at manteining her composure while Amy.exe stops working.
Discombobulation action was successful.
Wow! It’s almost as if…the author, whoever he or she is, knew about Amy’s crush ahead of time! 🙂
Panel 3 is my favorite. 🙂
The internal bunny was screaming so loudly that *Kaya* could hear it!
Wait! That’s not right. It is not a 50/50 chance of odd or even. Rolling two dice, there is always a 40% chance it will roll a sum of seven. It has to do with how many combinations create the sum. 7 has more possible combinations. 2 and 12 have the fewest combinations and come up less than 10% of the time. In practice “odd” should come up about 70% of the time.
That’s the thing. This little Lucky Bunny has supernatural levels of luck going for her! That’s why Rex is making such a big move, going all in, cause she was kicking their butts. But by touching her hand, he’s sent her inner bunny absolutely freak out, messing up her supernatural luck as well…
Or just thought that, if She beat them now, they never come back again… Which would greatly decrease the possible amount of time, she could spend with Rex. Which means “luck” for her now would be a “lose a battle to win the war” situation.
Nope, it’s a 50-50 chance of odd or even. If you make a table of the 36 possible combinations, 18 are odd and 18 are even.
You’re right that seven is the most likely result because it has the highest number of combinations that lead to it, but it isn’t 40%. Out of the 36 possible combinations, 6 of them give you a seven (16, 25, 34, 43, 52, 61), so the chance are 1 in 6, which is about 17%.
3, 5, 7, 9, 11 vs 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12. Even if there is a higher chance of it being 7 than any other number, there are *more* even numbers. The distribution won’t be even between which odd number comes up, but the overall odds between even and odd numbers sum up to 50/50. To put it another way, you are most likely to get a seven (6 combinations), but you are more likely to get a 6 or 8 than a 5 or 9 (5 combinations vs 4 each), and more likely to get a 4 or 10 than a 3 or 11 (3 vs 2 each), and you can also get a 2 or 12 (1 each), so the weighting pulls back to being equal between evens and odds (18 odd combinations, vs 18 even combinations). You will mostly get 6s, 7s, and 8s, but the chances are fair between evens and odds. Probability is wonky looking sometimes. Don’t know if that helps at all.
I still suspect “lucky bunny” here is cheating.
Nah, she’s just really, really lucky.
Once saw a guy throw 13 seven’s in a row with honest dice; figure the odds on that. And no handwork, he was using a cup to shake ’em.
BISHY REX!!!
Who knew that guy had a brain in him?
>:)
I did. 🙂 Rex has shown all along that he is intelligent; even plays Catacombs & Drakes, and knows to ask “Which edition?” when invited to play. Articulates well too. And remember his reasoning for giving Kai a hard time when trying-out for the basketball team? Rex is quite smart, just doesn’t push himself out there for everyone to see it.
Rex in shojo mode ? I am sure he would have rather to howl.
It’s okay; no one knows but Amy. 😉
Poor Amy’s brain has broken. XD
“Rebooting…” 😉
I think she’s a quantum sensitive. She reads probability subconsciously. Kind of an offshoot of a mythic like Jin is, but not as pronounced. It happens in small ways. If you gave her a shuffled deck of cards, she’d be able to tell you whether it was a red or black card, maybe even what suit it was. She’s reading ahead.
