What causes that is the maltitol syrup that’s the base for the gummies. It’s chemically related to the natural sugar maltose, but with a different molecular configuration. It fools the tongue which is why it tastes sweet, but the digestive enzymes can’t lock onto it to digest it so it goes through you — thus the laxative effect. This is supposed to be good for diabetics who can’t handle sugar — they get sugar-like flavor without the sugar being absorbed.
Unfortunately, there’s an even worse side-effect of these sugar alcohols (neither sugars nor alcohols, but a sort of in-between state), especially for sorbitol (one of the most common — check ingredients labels for toothpastes, mouthwashes, and sugar-free candies for this): for diabetics, sorbitol builds up in the body tissues because the diabetic can’t properly handle sugar — it’s a byproduct of the failed attempt to digest the sugar. Turns out that it’s this sorbitol buildup that actually causes much of the damage associated with diabetes, such as diabetic retinopathy, kidney damage, etc.
Note that this is sorbitol that results from the failed attempt to metabolize sugar and other carbs, not sorbitol you eat in the form of sugar-free candy (or ice cream or whatever), or get in your mouth via dental products. But I for one am not taking any chances until they determine that for sure. What we do know is that excess sorbitol is found in tissues such as the retina that have been damaged by improperly managed (and all too often properly managed, but still insufficiently controlled) diabetes.
Other sugar alcohols aka polyols probably also contribute. The shape of the molecules appears to be the issue, combined with the fact that the body can’t do anything with them. They just sit there building up, and causing problems by their presence.

Also: puddle hybrid. Poor thing, with those flappy, hanging ears. Imagine how much they made fun of her (or him, which is worse) because of that.
But it will make him popular with the girls now since it’s fluffy and cute xD
Maybe, but hanging ears in my opinion on a failure of selective breeding. They benefit the animal (or even in this case, the hybrid although in this case its nobody’s fault) in no way. “Proper” standing ears are expressive and aid in hearing by their movement as well as giving surface area for cooling. Not to mention that hanging ears are more difficult to clean, get dirty more easily and flap around to no point at all. Not to mention trap moisture and dirt, thus increase the risk of infections which is actually a regular problem with poodles that frequently have ear infections (look it up on Wikipedia and this is a MINOR problem compared to those common in the breed).
The poor guy might find himself in need of having to tie HIS EARS behind his head in order for them not to get in his eyes (seriously, THOSE ARE HUGE), especially in something like intense work or excercise. Or even cut them down. Yes, that is a thing among dog owners, usually for “correcting” the breed but has been done to especially long-eared varieties. I hope the guy knows a good canine vet and knows how to keep his ears clean.
But he’ll be popular with girls… Which is the final objective of evolution, the ones who can procreate prevail.
Aside the question whether hybrids have their status be hereditary or be infertile as actual hybrids…
“Popular with girls” =/= “have a lot of sex” =/= “have many children” =/= “all children grow up to adults with good fitness” =/= “trait benefits children”. They imply but not not automatically grant or follow, nor counterbalance other problems.
