I’m sensing a heavy backfire coming up in the near future for her
I second that prediction
You could be right 😀
I wonder what kind of backfire will happen? Public humiliation? Legal trouble? Getting her @$$ handed to her by an approximately 9 year old Komainu puppy cub who’s a prodigy in aikido and “Yeet Kun Do?” Some combination of all the above forms of being hoist in the petard and crud like that? Personally, I’d like to see her getting covered in her own fish heads and when she tries to attack Kaya, Cleo, and/or Kai, Jin comes in and flings/yeets her away.
You’ve done nothing to help people like you;
you’re quite a vicious little girl.
|Forever dreaming, screaming and scheming
whilst everyone sees your world unfurl.
Lizzie tries to help you see the truth here;
ultimately there’s only you to blame.
With all of your personal disasters,
failure will be your only claim to fame.
You’ve lost one ‘friend’ and, I think, Lizzie too
as your spite and denial eats your up.
But who will lead the resistance to you?
Dragons, a snake, a Nate… a pup?
(Jackie’s car now needs a sunroof.)
Remember the strip “trick or treat” where Larissa says it was anger ………. Seems more she searches for revenge and victory all the time X_X
Oh yeah, didn’t think of Jackie’s car xD
Lala will not learn
She plots unjust vengeance on
A kind young Dragon girl.
Oh you’re a mean one, miss Lariss,
You really are worse than a heel.
You’re as cuddly as a Man o’ War
And as charming as an eel,
Miss Lariss,
You’re a rotten apple with a moldy, black peel!
Just face the music, you’re a demon, miss Lariss, yes you are!
You’re heart’s an empty BLACK HHOOOOOLLEE!
Your brain is full of spiders,
You’ve got fish manure in your soul, miss Lariss!
I wouldn’t touch you with a… 59 and a half foot pole!
Either Larissa was foolish/sociopathic enough to reveal her evil plan in front of the one member of their group that actually has morals…or worryingly enough, she may have taken that into account.
There are some potential holes in this plan, so here’s hoping Larissa isn’t as clever as she thinks she is.
Eh, I don’t think she’s the planning type. Larissa is impulsive, and short-sighted from what we’ve seen so far. Typical bully. I doubt it’s even crossed her mind that there might be a traitor among their ranks.
Daniel here. Yeah, Larissa is definitely showing “don’t care about others”, “don’t think things through” and “not happy until maximum damage is done” qualities here. Worst case scenario, this destroys the Twins family reputation, crippling them financially, though I can see Cleo convincing her Father to hire the Twins Father as an inhouse chef. Another possibility is Larissa gets arrested or at least sued for Defamation Of Character – taking extreme measures to destroy someone’s reputation like that can can be against the Law…
Thankfully, Larissa IS showing another common bully trait – the belief that “my underlings would never disobey/betray me”. By believing that they are completely loyal despite her actions, and giving them this information now gives them time to think about it. Dinah DOES appear to be completely loyal, following without question, but I don’t think Lizzy can say the same…
Larissa still considers Liz as part of her ‘army’ :p
THINK before you act, Lizzy… But, DO act!
I suspect… Well… Dinah’s not really all that bright is she? On the other hand; looking at the size of those fish parts, Larissa may have overplayed her hand this time. They’re too big and obvious to be served by mistake. I wonder if CLeo’s father has contacts in the media who can film Larissa in the act… 🙂
thinking before acting is a sound strategy. Let’s hope Lizzy knows that xD
And the plan is revealed! Simple, gross, and in no way easily refutable by other customers who sampled the food (and maybe took pics) before Larissa’s group arrives….. Larissa maybe you should think through this a bit more before committing to it. There’s also Cleo and her lawyers to think about should you try and ruin her first business venture.
And considering Larissa is a minor… That means the lawyers will be going after Larissa’s parents! Might be the first time the parents take their child’s problems seriously enough to actually do something real.
It’s not a great plan, but it’s her greatest plan to date xD
That’s her greatest plan so far?! How many plans has she made and how stupid/horrible were they? She’s obviously not the sharpest knife in the drawer (that’ll probably be in poor Kaya’s spleen/giblets, at least that’s where Larissa wanted it to be. It broke against Kaya’s skin… and her stomach… and her back… and her butt… and her oddly large dragon boobs… when she kept trying to stab the poor little dragon), but that doesn’t make her any less dangerous, often the most dangerous people are those who are too stupid to think things through, such as Billy from the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy or the entire population of Springfield from the Simpsons.
Are you saying that dragon ladies shouldn’t have boobs or that 14 year old girls shouldn’t have boobs?
I can see an argument for the former, as Cleo doesn’t have much of any, but I’ve known adult human women with less than what Cleo has, so that could just be human variation. For the latter… during my senior year of high school, one of the freshmen was a girl with larger breasts than any of the seniors. She wasn’t very large beyond that, so she unintentionally embarrassed most of the senior and junior guys who estimated age in part by breast size.
As far as the entire population of Springfield from the Simpsons… Lisa sometimes thought things through well enough. I don’t recall Maggie being that bad, either. I’ll admit I stopped watching that show in 1995, as I moved away from the friends I had who were fans. But it felt like part of the formula for that show was the younger women of the Simpson family were more or less decent people.
I’m saying Kaya’s a little unusual, especially since you’d think half reptiles would have smaller mammary glands (though, it could be just that Kaya has well developed pectoral muscles underneath). Then again, I’m not an expert on Hybrids and how puberty affects them😅, I just feel that the Romero Twins would age slower than most other Humans and Hybrids since they’re part reptile and a mythical reptile at that.
Alt-text: There should be a hyphen in “handpick”.
I found several versions. I guess I selected wrong xD
🙂 Actually; in this case, I’d have used “hand pick”. 😉
Not a good plan. No reasonable person would ever believe that. Needs to be much more subtle.
Question is, are there any reasonable people around.
Hmmm. Thing is, she’s actually using ‘trial by social media’. Doesn’t really need to be believable. May not be as effective as she would want, but still effective enough.
If the past year has taught us nothing, there are a lot of people out there who will believe anything you tell them.
I would expect most people are reasonable. Although, this is social media we’re talking about. Would reasonable people follow Larissa on there? xD
Purely for the entertainment value! 😉
I hope Kai calls her out when this happens. I mean that Kai will have learned enough from his dad to recognize the fish head in question is not part of the dish they served her. And maybe this will get Larissa banned from the Food Festival.
And Jesse’s Adventure has me wondering more then ever if the hybrid phenomenon is based in something spiritual? Honestly though I would be fine with it never being known what caused it or why. But poor Jackie, she almost got her wish.
I think it wouldn’t be hard to see that the fish heads aren’t part of the dish, even for a trainee cook. Kai having a little more experience would easily call that out.
It’s official. Larissa is irredeemable. There were signs before this, of course, but just because she’s selfish didn’t mean she couldn’t be redeemed. The fact that she is blaming Kaya for (a) the consequences of her own actions (b) as enforced by -Nate- (c) several weeks after the fact is proof that she cannot and will not see the error of her ways.
Plus, her plan is just faulty in so many ways, it reeks of #StupidEvil. A business has the right to refuse service to customers they have reason to believe will be troublesome, and with Cleo and Kaya’s past experience regarding Larissa, they have every reason to refuse to serve her. Plus, the likelihood of a single obviously-scammed dish ruining Due Draghi’s reputation is awfully low, especially considering they don’t even HAVE a reputation to ruin yet; we don’t even know for sure that ‘Due Draghi’ is officiated as the final name of the restaurant, Marco might be able to change his plans after the festival. What’s more, having previous experience, Marco’s probably no stranger to customers who come back complaining about their food, and will probably be willing to simply make a fresh dish as customer compensation if he doesn’t recognize who Larissa is, which would throw a massive wrench in her plans. And that’s assuming the people behind her in line wouldn’t be willing to defend Marco when they recognize Larissa’s scam.
All in all, the worst thing that she can do to Marco is give him a story to submit to Not Always Right.
Marco and Larissa have not met but Kai and the others will recognize the trio. As far as refusing service goes I don’t know, we will see what happens. Part of Larissa’s plan may fall apart just on how their food is served to them. Lots of food trucks serve customers their food in cartons which makes it easy and convenient for them to carry it off. But if Rex and Nate are waiting tables it might mean that they are using plates with the food in plain sight as it’s being brought out. And if Nate is the one that serves them I wouldn’t be surprised if he whips his own phone out and snaps a pic of them with their food before Larissa can add her “special ingredients.” Maybe even take a few pics of their dishes before serving them. Whatever happens I don’t think Larissa’s plan is going to go quite like she hopes.
In fact thinking on it a little more it wouldn’t surprise me if on seeing the trailer and how things are being done she may ditch her initial plan and try for something else. We know Kaya & Cleo are going to be out in the crowd handing out flyers, as well as Benji and Jin. If Larissa hears of this (crowd gossip) after abandoning her initial plan what if she tries to seek out Kaya in the crowd? Of course that’s riskier but if Larissa’s on a slow burn (gradually getting angrier) because her initial plan didn’t pan out she might be at a don’t care point by the time she finds Kaya. I guess that would depend on how big the festival is (more than 1 city block?) and how long it takes her to find Kaya.
Also; a big festival like this will certainly have at least some media coverage. Cleo probably asked her dad to ask his friends to see that ‘her’ food truck gets its share of attention. Cleo will almost certainly be around somewhere and would quickly recognize The Witches. She could then make sure -they- get film coverage too, likely without their realizing it. 🙂
Further, they seem to have roughly current tech. Which leaves the possibility of a bystander happening to be making a video just as Larissa does her thing. This could be especially likely if another classmate sees her and is aware of the prior incident.
Another thing – why is … the Lion-Dog here. Chekhov? He is far more formidable and observant than anyone suspects.
“Why is the Lion-Dog here”
Because he’s a friend of the twins? When you have friends, you want to invite them to places. I didn’t think that was something that needed to be spelled out.
Larissa isn’t really know for her intelligence anyway xD
Apparently neither is Dinah!
Well , that’s a classic plan for revenge : too classic to success . I bet about Larissa having a wrong move and splashing herself with the rotten fish heads
you have to go with the classics sometimes :p
Why do I feel like those fish are going to end up on Larissa instead of the food before the end of this chapter? It just feels like carrying around a jar of rotten fish in a bag is a disaster waiting to happen for the carrier. Even if I’m wrong about that there are just so many holes in this plan that I can’t think of any way for it to go right for Larissa even if we didn’t have the obvious excuse of “well Robin wouldn’t want to kill off the restaurant idea”. It’s less of the anticipation of how this will end and more the anticipation of how exactly it’s going to go wrong. Which is interesting because normally when an author wants you to know something is going to go wrong it’s telegraphed from a mile away. Good job leaving things up to the imagination Robin. It keeps the comic interesting no matter how long you read it for. Keep up the good work, and as always, stay awesome!
Larissa wearing the fish heads might depend on if it’s a glass jar or a plastic one. Simple trip and fall or not maintaining a good hold on the sack for a moment might be all it takes to ruin her plan (and clothes). Would be a bit anti-climatic though.
Thanks Alpha 😀 The fish heads might or might not end up in the various places people think they will go xD
You know me, I try to do things a bit differently. Telegraphing that something will go wrong is one thing, but I like to keep people guessing just HOW it will go wrong :p
Wait: something obvious that I don’t think has been mentioned yet! The food they order is very likely going to be cooked (is anything fish related served raw in Italian cuisine?) and those fish heads are not. That is something that will stand out immediately to any observation of the food they order and pics they take to post on social media. Larissa might just out herself if she tries to follow through on generating outrage online!
It’s not like Larissa thought this through. It’s already remarkable she has a plan beyond ‘let’s kick ass at their place!’ xD
Nuoc mam, anyone?
Not sure if that fits within the Italian theme of the food truck xD
🎶 Fish heads, fish heads, rolli-polli fish heads. Fish heads, fish heads, eat them up, yum! 🎶
I sure hope this plan gets foiled.
Darn, you beat me to it on the song.
Never heard of that song xD
At least she didn’t decide to poison the food. Though that’s a very low bar to clear
It may be a low bar to clear, but she cleared it, at least xD
Some advice for Liz. Pay Larissa back for the drink, and walk away. Say nothing. That would be the easiest way.
Going to warn the Twins is optional, but if you don’t you’ll only be neutral at best, not good.
You can try to stand up to Larissa if you want, go into a confrontation and tell her NO. But I’m not sure if your personality will stand up to hers.
You could also just go along as the unwilling party member, trying to convince them no, but still ultimately being a part of it, wasting Nates efforts and branding yourself as a villain, but I hope not.
Mostly because I want a future chapter when you make it up to the twins by getting them an appointment at your father’s business, and we see if a beauty salon specialising in hybrids can also do dragon ear piercing :p
If she is actively trying to dissuade them, she’s not a part of their efforts; she’s part of the countermeasures. Anyone who brands her a villain under those circumstances is an insensitive jerk who fails to unserstand atonement.
Yes, she might be more successful if she leaves warns the twins directly, but if she tries to stop Larissa herself, then she’s doing the best she is able to do, including her ability to determine the best she is able to do.
Well, that’s disgusting. I think Liz is going to pass a warning on to the twins after she leaves the diner, she was hoping her friends had at least wised up but it seems Larissa is motoring on with blind vengeance guided by her misguided belief she was entitled to everything having to do with Cleo. Liz was misguided, and the incident that got Larissa in trouble helped her realize she was operating on faulty information, so she started working on trying to have better relationships, but it’s hard to drop toxic friends you’ve known for most of your life. It would probably be funny if Liz joined the friend group of the main cast, also being able to interact with a cute kid like Jin on a more regular basis might help out with her decision there. But that’s just my thoughts on everything.
Larissa is just proving she needs more intense supervision, currently, if she continues down the path she’s on there’s a very high likelihood she’ll find herself with a criminal record as an adult. A common practice, according to modern media, is to have someone’s juvenile record sealed, barring any extenuating circumstances, so any problematic behavioral patterns as an adult don’t potentially negatively affect your adult life if you have legitimately changed since that time. Larissa’s punishment was likely the equivalent of getting a slap on the wrist because her parents weren’t aware of other malicious tendencies she holds.
Agree wholeheartedly.
Larissa is becoming a Karen. She’s going to end up with the death penalty.
I’ve known several people who had criminal juvenile records. It’s possible things are done differently these days, but they were sealed from the start. I knew of one because they were a relative of a friend, another because the individual mentioned it to explain why he was incredibly skittish of any encounter with the police or doing anything that could remotely be considered illegal, and found out about the others after they did something stupid as an adult.
Apparently, if you have a still sealed criminal juvenile record and do something criminal as an adult, the judge has the option of leaving the juvenile record sealed, but the judge for the one verdict I read where that was mentioned indicated that was rarely done, and that the particular case clearly did not warrant it.
I think the Fancy Girl may take what Nate said to heart and quickly inform the crew, but we’ll have a “Team Avatar w/ Reformed Zuko” awkwardness and distrust unfold before they realized she was telling the truth.
This kind of reminds me of that fake “Chicken McNoggin” picture that’s been floating around the web for the last two decades.
Points off for plagiarism, Laurissa!
Good to see at least the others are semi-rational human beings as opposed to Larissa, who seems to run on vengeance and poor planning. How exactly one person’s bad review of a food truck set to serve such a large section of the community will bring them down escapes me. Meanwhile, a tight-knit group of friends, a small child, and his GUARDIAN DIETY are going to be building bridges among the customers who are actually there for a good meal. I’d say the fish plan is basically shooting yourself in the foot, but villains gotta villain.
Elizabeth: “But you know that’s not going to work! It’s like one of the oldest scams you can pull on a restaurant!”
Larissa: “Ah well, that’s why the fish head juice is full of botulinum toxin. We slip it into their food supply. That way their reputation won’t just be ruined, they’ll go to prison!”
Hah, but knowing what we do about Larissa, I doubt she even knows what that is she seems to be the sort who has bullied and cheated her way through life, why bother studying for a test when you can threaten swirlies or atomic wedgies on the class nerd instead? She gets in trouble, well it’s definitely not HER fault.
I am guessing that somebody’s family makes some form of fish stew or fish soup (depending on how thick it is) a lot, at home.
If you’re snarking about Larissa, I’d like to point out that she was working at a fish SHOP earlier this chapter, and part of her duties involved cutting fish heads off, presumably for the purposes of selling fish meat (that… doesn’t feel like a proper phrase, but you know what I mean).
Fish Heads, Fish Heads
Rolly-Polly Fish Heads
Fish Heads, Fish Heads
Eat Them Up, Yum!
