I have a feeling that smile is going to disappear quick from whatever moves Rex is going to pull off next.
Don’t count Kai out just yet though :p
i dont think that this counts
It counts, it was a perfectly fine alley-oop. Also, there are no rules against tails yet :p
To have one point , Kai has shown to Rex his two main abilities : slapping tail and high jumping ; and he’s already lightly outbreathing . Rex knowing all this , i bet the final score will be 21 to 6 for the wolf
Kai hasn’t show his full jumping power yet, he should be able to go at least a meter higher from what I have seen in the earlier comics. But I am curious too way they used the tail slap trump card on the first move. Maybe it’s for intimidation.
Aside from the matter of stamina the big question for me is if Kai managed to get a decent aim or not. If cannot to two point throws he has a huge disadvantage, especially once Rex realizes that.
Question about the rules: It sounds like ball possesion at the will alternate between Rex and Kai. Does a play end the moment a player loses the ball and they start over from the starting line with ball possesion on the other player? Or can a player go for the (other) basket for points if he manages to steal/intercept the ball?
Anyway, i am looking forward to Rex’ comments and play and Kai’s counter. Who knows, me might see Kai catching balls midair.
Kai is jumping in the second panel but it’s possible he’s jumped higher before the third one . Remember Robin doesn’t know yet how to draw sequenced moves
Kai didn’t jump very high for the alley-oop. He didn’t show of his maximum height yet. ^^
Is he outbreathing because of exhaustion or exhilaration? I think he’s just excited that it worked.
I say : “exhaustion”
Kai has run fast to open the score , before Rex reacts and comes to swipe the ball to him
There’s a liptwinge of humour
and a faint look of a grin
on the Wild Wolf Captain’s face
as he knows he was taken in.
Assumptions are now shorn,
cut from the arrogance game
as the Wolf plots revenge
and how to get back in the game.
The basket has been netted;
it’s two points for our Kai.
Now we’ll see his mettle;
Balls, Fur and scales are gonna fly.
*one point.
Nobody say anything about that movie
Air bud?
Kungfu dunk?
Space jam?
Flubber?
Green Dragons Can’t Jump?
>:)
I never knew about Kung Fu Dunk. Thanks for a new movie 😀
Which one?
Just one point scoring repeatedly will be a hard tactic. He will need to gain possession a lot.
Yeah, but that’s generally how one-on-one is played. It’s all about getting those 21 points quicker than the other guy, so stealing or blocking is crucial.
“That’s great kid, don’t get cocky.”
Now Rex will get serious. Kai now has to prove he’s not a one trick pony, err, dragon.
Kai is “owning” a strategy not taking in count what Rex will do : remember the first strip of the match (he lets me start as we’ve supposed) . The green dragon has neither the endurance or the experience : he can only save the honor . Maybe he should to impress Rex enough for this last accepts him as substitute ……..
I was thinking the same thing. Even if Kai can’t win, and it’s likely he won’t, he can at least make Rex realize he made a mistake by judging him solely on his appearance.
Yeah, he has quite a lot to prove.
One down, Kai. One down. Now don’t pass out. If you do, they might decide that the fastest way to wake you up is to give you a pepper.
Oh don’t worry, he’s in no danger of passing out xD
Besides, peppers don’t really face him.
How about having Cleo Benji and the dragon twins watch
Quantum Leap.
Greg, I’m sorry, but I’ll have to call you out on this, since it’s also bothering other readers. Your comment has nothing to do with the current comic page. Could you limit your comments to discussing the comic pages from now on?
Interesting move. But if Rex is really any good, then that trick won’t work twice.
When I was smaller I was always like “Yes, defeat that meanie!”, but now I’m also like:
– “Training for a short time to surpass a pro? What kind of lesson is that regarding hard work?”
– “Kai really shouldn’t have challenged Rex. That was so stupid of him.”
– “Why would he want to play Basket Ball in the first place when it’d mean having to be around Rex? Just have a different team profit from your skill instead! A team with actual nice people.”
Sooooo, since I prefer to look at the bright side, this means that one part of me can be happy, no matter how the game ends. But I’m with Panther regarding the final score od 21:6. Maybe Kai will be good enough so that Rex (or some others) admit that Kai would be a great addition to the team, but I don’t see Kai winning here.
See Kai win against Rex is like to see a “classic” basket-baller win against michael Jordan
i love this page, that lil smirk that Kai gives to wolf boy is funny. i can’t wait for more. ps i think Kais gonna win
White men can’t jump…but there’s nothing that says that about green dragons.
Hi! Haven’t read in a while, and am happy to catch up by reading a bunch of pages in one sitting. Also, that picture of Kai is really big on TWC. It’s so big, it sometimes crashes my browser. Is there any way you could make it smaller? Thanks!
Unreal Air!
With folks pointing out Kai’s jumping ability, it raised a question for me. What is the max jump hight of our endearing dragons. Rex isn’t looking to happy, is he?
