I think Kai finally figured out the secret to her lucky rolls and decided to just go for it. Or I could be completely wrong, but something about the last panel tells me something happened to make her actually worried, and I like to think that Kai might have had a hand in that.
What happened is that her hand is being held by her crush.
Kai isn’t doing as well as I hoped… But it looks like his luck has finally escaped the stranglehold Amy’s luck had it in. Normally, Rex would be a terrible gambler with a risky move like that, but since Amy has a massive, visible crush on him (the poor girl), he might disrupt her focus… Still, something tells me that the One Roll Bunny might be rigging the game. Either that, or my gut is saying it’s time to eat.
You’re thinking waaay too hard about this. 😉 Just take it at face value and value the cute&sweet! 🙂
Sorry, it’s just I’m afraid this is one of my least favorite comics so far. I don’t like seeing poor little Kai suffer or struggle like this! He doesn’t deserve to have bad luck or lose!
The Lucky Bunny wins again! Her foe is truly vexed;
Has Wil Wheaton entered the room? It seems the dice are hexed!
But hark, a challenger appears, ready for what comes next;
Cursed or rigged, the dice it seems are going to be Rex’ed!
Good!
She hasn’t won just yet! Team Kai still has 15 points left-
(*Red goes all in.*)
…
Never mind, their chances probably got even lower. Hopefully Rex inadvertently disrupted Amy’s focus and luck.
Nothing “inadvertant” about it! 🙂
Uh oh! Luck disrupted maybe? Or maybe her luck was just working differently this time because her crush touched her!
OR, and this is just a theory, she knows exactly how to shake the die to make it so that she always gets the results she wants. If you’re flustered, it means that your less likely to focus and more likely to make mistakes, which Rex may have figured out.
especially since games involving dice under cups can be rigged with just a bit of fishing line across the rim and the right hand movement.
One Touch Wolf
And we’re back to the game shop. Hand-on-hand, it seems that our lucky bunny may have just lost her cool. The last panel gave me a laugh.
Do I understand correctly that they started with 200 chips each and the game continues until one side has all the chips?
So why did Rex lay his hand on Amy’s?
“Touching her will make her luck rub off on me.”?
“Don’t throw the dice until I’ve finished talking.”?
“Because the child is obviously smitten with me, touching her will make her luck turn.” – How?
The smart solution would be to invite Amy to come along on their treasure hunt. If that would be fun to Amy, then it becomes lucky to her if Kai wins so the treasure hunt can continue.
#3 mostlikely. #4 also a good idea.
I think Rex is operating under the assumption that Amy’s “luck” is actually her cheating, and he’s trying to make her short-circuit with crush-contact to occupy her faculties. But that does assume that he’s figured out that Amy’s crushing on him.
They’ not being lucky with the bunny,
as Benji knew they wouldn’t.
He might know how to throw her game
but, for fairness sake, he shouldn’t.
I bet he knows her weakness;
her fondness for a certain Wolfboy
but doesn’t know it consciously –
it would make her his toy.
Rex rises to change the odds;
a new player enters her game.
Whether he wins or folds ..
Fifty-fifty odds won’t be the same.
Gambling and love are not compatible. Contact with a crush should be enough to disrupt the probability field she generates.
It would be funny if she were rigging it with magnetic dice or something, but then Benji’s comment about C&D wouldn’t make sense.
If Kai starts going all-in and winning every time, he’d still have to win five in a row to beat her.
If she cheats at dice, yes I have had players good at that, touching her could mess with her precision.
it is actually possible to cheat with thrown dice if you know how to hold them and throw them to minimize the amount of actual randomness.
Hand touched , and Amy gets a short-circuit from Rex XD
Teela Brown ain’t got nothing on this girl….
Took me a few moments to figure out that Rex was putting his hand on top of Amy’s. I thought she was using her paler paw for some reason. XD; Then I saw the other hand beneath the cream-colored one.
They aren’t going to do it, but if she can beat my suggestion, she’s good. There are web sites that will generate random numbers. Some of them use physical things, such as radio noise. Should be beyond her control.
Heck, yesterday’s stock market closing price, odd or even. Do this after she rolls.
That’s an interesting theory, but we could go further. You say you have to pick it after she rolls since she would have no control over it, but if we look at Shrodinger’s cat theory and quantum theory, the outcome of the dice is undecided until it’s observed. Not saying I’m going to use near-magical control over quantum states on Amy here, since I like to keep the comic grounded in reality, but your comment made me think :p
With them guessing randomly, yes, I can believe this. We have an invisible person, minor involuntary mind control or precog or telekinesis is believable. Assuming her luck works with cards. Not sure how I’d hand wave that away. Slightly different laws of physics.
In the Wizardry Compiled series, the guys had trouble playing cards. You would end up with one player having all 13 Spades, another all 13 hearts, etc. Finally created a dealer to look at cards before dealing them. Locals were suspicious, no one had ever gambled, wasn’t really possible due to local laws of nature.
That’s a thought – what if they had lost ALL their chips? Gotta wait X amount of time before retrying? I’d say Game Over, but then he wouldn’t get his prezzys…
Their birthday is cancelled and they stay 14 for another year.
You have discovered the secret of eternal youth!
What happens if they lost all their chips is Amy doesn’t get invited to a birthday party where her crush will be. She’ll be crushed.
As such, I feel like it may have been her plan to string them along until the last roll. Now Rex has made this the last roll, and reminded her of what is at stake.
World Guide, paragraph 2: “hit or miss” should be hyphenated. Also, there should be a comma at the end of “fur”.
It’s like Dr. Tofu and Kisumi.
