New drivers
Kai and Kaya are now officially new drivers!
Kai got the hang of it faster than Kaya, so he gets to drive first.

Annabelle: experienced Kaya handler. Knowledgable on ways to keep Kaya safe while not offending them.
No more scars in the grass;
Kaya’s going in circles today.
Annabella knows her enough
to stop their mom going grey.
The chaos Dragon drives back,
after Kai takes the helm fore.
After all, an innocent little town
doesn’t need to experience war.
Disaster averted and plans made;
the trio are hitting the road.
What larks to be had today?
What mayhem still to be sewed?
Diolch yn fawr iawn.
…and now I’m hoping we see a lark hybrid at some point.
Sorry, Welshie; but my inner-pedant is screaming…
Sewed (also “Sewn”, as in “I have sewn your shirt back together.”): To have repaired a garment by stitching it together.
Sown: To have planted seed.
Heh! New clothes aren’t sewn; they just appear in shops fully formed, right? 😉
When my son started to ride, I had gotten him a simple Honda 250, I walked him through everything, including shifting, and then told him to go slow in the grass until he felt ready to give it some gas. He did the same thing, then got cocky, and face-planted. put a small dent in the tank AND in his face! He got better though, at 34 he’s riding a heavy Harley 1500 retired police cruiser. STILL shifts too hard though…
Annabella thinks ahead!
I’m guessing there have been accidents and close calls in the past with Kaya.
Likely, but I think it’s more Annabella knows her cousin’s impulsive behavior. Kaya doesn’t always think before she acts and that can be very dangerous on the road.
Clear thinking! You do not give the monkey the keys to the banana plantation, and you do not let a hyperactive Kaya drive a motor-scooter down a winding hill. Driving nice cars fast may be cultural in Italy, but there are limits.
Oldy but goody

“Released into the wild.” Why does that feel so fitting? Annabella may be a bit of a Kaya enabler, but it’s good to know she has limits on what she’s willing to have Kaya do. Even though she only sees her cousins once a year, she knows them very well. Kai being a better driver than Kaya isn’t unexpected, but it is a relief, I wish I could’ve seen his driving practice. I am curious, how old is Annabella? She’s taller than the twins, but they are a bit short for their age.
Anyway, the town is about to be visited by Dragons on motorized wheels, hopefully Kai and Kaya can keep their tails from smacking into things while on the scooter.
Panel 5, is that a beetle logo on the front of the twins’ scooter?
Marco called the scooter a “Scarabeo”. That’s Italian for “beetle” or an Egyptian scarab amulet.
OK, thanks.
It was already visible in the comics 2 and 4 weeks ago.
Bad Idea. The thing is faster downhill
Soooo, you want them to carry it downhill? That sounds incredibly annoying and hard to do even with their enhanced strength.
That’s why Kaya doesn’t get to drive downhill.
Harder, but still possible.
You can never get Kaya’s chances to zero xD
The streets, specifically? 😉
Now that we’ve had good views of both sides of the scooter, I notice an amazing design detail: The front wheel is attached with an invisible force field. That’s some very advanced technology for an old scooter. :-Þ
When I first saw the left side and noticed the lack of a fork to hold the axle, I concluded that there must be a one-sided arm on the other side of the wheel. Now I can see the right side, and there’s nothing to hold the wheel there either.
Given the size of the seat, where is Kay’s tail hanging? At least Kaya is not sitting on it, she is too low for that.
Yeah she’s not sitting on her own tail, I am thinking though that she might just be sitting on Kai’s given they are so close together on the scooter. It’s that or the twins tails are very flexible even all the way up at the base.
Just watch out for the “Angels of Dante’s Inferno” scooter gangs!
They can’t be worse than Hell’s grannies.
A message from the creator of ‘Tamberlane’, Caytlin Vilbrandt.
Apple is screwing over Patreon.
“Apple is requiring that Patreon switch to their iOS in-app purchase system starting this November, or risk being removed from Apple’s App Store. More than 40% of Patreon’s users come from their iOS app, leaving Patreon with no choice but to make drastic changes to their platform in order to appease Apple.
Patreon is one of thousands unable to operate their business how they wish due to Apple’s payment processing requirements. Which, in turn, is affecting how thousands of creators on Patreon operate their businesses.
Opinions aside, here are the facts:
Everything stated here takes effect this November.
All Patreon creators will be switched to subscription billing, where patrons are charged each month on the day they subscribed. No more 1st-of-the-month billing nor per-creation billing. Creators can opt out until November 2025, forfeiting all new iOS patronage, after which they must switch to subscription billing or close their Patreon.
Thankfully Tamberlane is already on the subscription billing system, so no changes here for any of you, for this part. Unfortunately this significantly hurts many creators, including our friends.
All new iOS patron subscriptions will cost patrons 40-50% more. No, that is not a typo. Apple payments have a 30% fee. The remaining 10-20% increase is there to protect creators’ income, keeping it the same as it is now. For example, a $10 pledge will cost you $14.50 instead. Creators have the option of paying the fee instead of the patrons, but then Apple would be taking 30-40% of the creator’s income. Hell no to that.
Patreon’s payment processing can take up to 7 days maximum, allowing creators and patrons to handle payment issues swiftly. This also protects creators from providing rewards to those unable to pay. Apple’s payment processing takes up to 75 days, roughly two and a half months. As you can imagine, this is terrible for creators across the board. Patrons are affected too, since payment issues can now void entire months worth of patronage. In such scenarios, the patron will lose claimed rewards and fail to support those they intended to.
We strongly suggest ditching the iOS Patreon app in favor of using the browser on your Apple device. Otherwise you are paying far more than the creator will receive.
Patreon agrees with this approach. To quote an announcement they made to their Discord:
Q: Why can’t Patreon tell people to sign up on web at in-app checkout?
A: Apple has been extremely clear: Patreon is not able to redirect members from the mobile app to the web. If Patreon did this, the app could be removed from the App Store. However, as a creator, you are able to post any message you would like to your members on your Patreon (via posts, your About section, messages, etc), in accordance with our community guidelines.
Please help creators and their patrons by spreading the word.
Patreon is not the enemy here. Apple is the one enforcing these requirements. “
