The game comes to an end, and Benji has something he wants to say to Rex in private…

to say goodbye to the gang.
It’s been fun to play the game
even with the occasional prang.
Saying farewell to guys and gal
Benji shows friends to the door
and, like Rex earlier in play,
he needs to say sorry for before.
He gets Rex more now, how he thinks
and just what a heel he’s been;
if he learns from this it’s great
and it’ll only be his headfur that’s green.

Who knows? With comics it might also go this way:
Benji: Long speech about having prejudices and making wrong assumptions.
Rex: “Oh it’s fine, you don’t have to feel bad about that. But if you you call my character a dark paladin one more time it’s hammer time.”
But Robin is good with playing on expectations. So I hope for a nice surprise.
When he comes home he will give his dog a big cuddle to compensate ^^
And so the game concludes for now, leaving poor Rex griffin-less. The after-game chatter in panel one is perfectly fitting to the setting of what’s going on, and the final panel was a touch almost begged for. Benji never did seem like the sort to fail to recognize when he’s at fault, and it’s perfectly in his character to apologize for it afterwards. It will be nice to see how things cool down a bit between him and Rex. While Rex may be a heartless winning machine on the court, it’s very well been made apparent now that he definitely is not quite as fierce as he seems once you get to know him. I’m just as amazed as I was the day I first found this comic at the incredible realism and depth of these characters. Keep up the good work, Robin. Keep making your art. Stay awesome.

I forget their seating positions, who’s saying what in Panel 1?
I would say that “yeah” is from Kaya , “could use a better reward though” from Kai , “wasn’t too bad (etc)” from Rex , and “it was fun” from Cleo

So “Yeah” and “Could use…” Kaya and Cleo, not 100% sure which order (Kaya shouldn’t complain about the reward though, she got a Griffin pet). “Wasn’t …” is clearly Rex and “It was fun” is Kai.
If Kai’s the one saying that last line, then why is he repeating himself in the next panel?
I think Kai is the one saying “could use a better reward though” because he’s the one having seen what was the reward from bushman
In hindsight, I should have established the seating positions again before doing that panel. Luckily some others have already linked to the previous comics in the comments so I guess you figured it out already ^^
I got a good giggle at Rex’s exclamation of his not getting a chance to hold the Griffin yet. A good way to end the game imho.
Definitely! I’ve been liking Rex more and more ever since the basketball game. This just adds to it. 🙂
And since we don’t have a nice fox (yet?), the wolf is the closest thing to one for me to cheer for. 🙂

This was a good chapter, but I’ll be looking forward to some real world stuff in the next chapter. But a revisit at some point would be good.
I do like the character development of Rex, you’ve done a good job making him more likeable, he’s still my least favourite of the main characters, but he’s a lot more chill when basketball isn’t involved. Proof that sport is evil and should be avoided!
Cleo seems to be fitting in well to the calm, collected, calculating person next to Kaya’s firery impulsive outgoinging persona.
Yeah, I was originally going with a dream chapter now, but I got some signals here and there that people want to go back to real world story after this so I switched it around.
I knew Rex would come of as a bad guy due to how I introduced him, so I’m glad I got to show some more of him now. Cleo is the mandatory calm sensation to Kaya xD

Thank you for putting that image in my head, because I never would have thought of it otherwise and that’s adorable. Maybe a future voting incentive if Robin likes it? Otherwise maybe a future commission, because that image needs to be a thing.
She’d have to have some serious powers to do so xD
