Misha stood her ground, allowing her friends to stay.
And today we learn she’s improving, herself.
Hurray! (to complete your couplet)
An argument can be won
by knowing they do you good?
By telling them, in an odd way,
you like they did what they could?
They’re not the harridan you know,
they just want you to be better.
They know you have to be pushed
and they have to be the test setter.
You win by losing and drawing the line;
painting the picture that suits all just fine.
Losing succeeds by declaring defeat
and holding the line, not stating retreat.
That’s pretty impressive. I haven’t been tested but I know that I’ve been a slow reader all my life. I had to take special classes through school because of how much harder reading was for me. I was lucky though, they called it “The Resource Room” and not “Special Education.” Kind of ironic too that dispite my difficulties I actually became an avid reader in high school and through college. It was D&D novels that really drew me in, Forgotten Realms specifically. By the time I graduated I had even started writing as a hobby. Just fanfics of my own Sonic OCs and the adventures they had in another part of Sonic’s world.
Well… that puts a new perspective on Misha’s “not a lot of friends” situation.
Well Misha doesn’t have a lot of friends. But for different reasons than you might think.
Actually she is 15, but considering she skipped school a lot. And I mean A LOT, they put her back in 8th grade once she arrived in Hybrid City. Meaning all her classmates are about 2 years younger than she is. However, they kind of respect her, because well… She skipped school having “fun” while her classmates were basically stuck there.
So, yep. Misha just doesn’t like the fact that she was held back now. Because she would rather be in the same grade as her girlfriend. Which has yet to appear I guess.
And with yet to appear I mean, she is known for people on patreon, or furaffinity. Its not really a secret.
Her girlfriend is the diabetic racoon right?
Yes
Well done, Misha. And that seems fair: an exception just for one day. It would get to be too much very quickly if Misha started including the twins and everyone in their friend group.
…of course, now that they’ve gotten to a place to study and there’s no need to worry about Mrs. Miller kicking them out, what sort of shenanigans will be happening next? There’s a lot of chapter left.
Lunar New Year is this Saturday; we’ll be going into the Year of the Dragon. I’m sure Robin has something special planned for around that time.
Bonus fact: Thailand and Thai culture have the Year of the Naga instead of the Year of the Dragon.
Looks like Mrs. Miller really does like Misha. Makes sense, Misha is a lost puppy. Mrs. Miller is proud of Misha’s progress, enough it seems to overcome her frustration. I know I’m happy for Misha’s improvement! Though perhaps she may be embarrassed to have revealed her learning difficulties to her new friends… They may be off panel, but Kai and Kaya are still likely to be in earshot.
I wouldn’t say the librarian boss has been slain, more like she surrendered out of respect.
hu….at my school, no one gave a flying one about reading speed – it was all about comprehension. which makes sense to me, cause the important bit is that you truly understand what you´re reading 😉
Yeah, I remember when I was a kid the focus was more on reading aloud. People didn’t seem to realize that just because I knew all the words meant that I understood what I read. 😂 I didn’t even know we were generally supposed to get *some* definition of meaning out of this stuff, unless it was supposed to be intrusions!
That said, I understood how meaning in songs was supposed to work even less… 😂
Also, it’s worth noting that I’m Autistic.
Still, I wish someone actually CHECKED to see if I understood. 😞
Спасибо большое, Миша.
Library lady still seems like a jerk, but at least that’s enough for the meantime, I suppose. 😅
Interesting that Miller emphasized “Junior Librarian.” Is she reminding Misha of her lack of authority for such things, or did she just give Misha a promotion? If the former, at least she first gave her a compliment to take the sting out. Overall, I like Mrs. Miller. 🙂
Her personal improvement is job relevant. She is probably saying she is worthy of the role as a form of compliment.
And today is the Lunar New, Year of the Dragon time.
