Great advice
Strategy and planning are great and all, but what if your opponent doesn’t seem to care?

You left out the first “h” in “rhythm”.
Still failed to see a new incentive (it’s still Benji’s graffiti). Just as I did previous week. Really nice flashback though.
Ah, sorry, the Benji one is still the new one. I copy pasted that text and didn’t notice it still said there’s a new one ‘today’. My mistake.
Still seeing Benji. Not even new text.
Fallback plan: fireball
Pretty sure that would count as a foul on Rex.
Not if it’s on the ball.

😀
It was a good plan , yes ; but only with expected reactions …………..
Love the two tiny panels . Rex is nicely drawn active in the last panel but his tail seems to be grown longer , no ?
I’m not sure how to say this but, uh… when a boy gets excited, they get “longer.” :3
(Yes I’m being cheeky)
It’s just a matter of perspective :p
Nah, I probably drew it a little too long. No biggie though, I guess :p
Not a problem ; i know girls loves big fluffy tails …………….. *looks at Kaya and Cleo* ^_^”
“No battle plan, survives contact with the enemy.”
Dang! I was hoping to use that line. Good thing I actually read the other comments before posting myself. 😉 🙂 🙂
It sure doesn’t. None of mine ever do anyway :p
Unfortunately, sound strategy and tactics can not always defeat pure skill and determination.
Rex has gone into “destroy” mode.
if the difference in skill is just too big, it really is hard to overcome that.
Which describes my personal favorite strategy in pretty much any SRPG.
Codename: Steamroller.
Grind them until your (core) characters can take down any enemy easily with a few strikes.
Not glorious, but effective. 🙂
There is still a chance, albeit so small you almost need a microscope.
Rex is now going at Kai with full force…meaning, he burns Stamina like there’s no tomorrow.
Kai can’t keep up with that, but he can defend until the point where Rex runs out of power.
But then again, it would be kind of hard to believe, that Rex would burn himself out like that.
After all, he is about as close to being ‘professional’ as anyone playing on a school team is going to get.
Not unbelievable, but kind of hard to believe.
I guess Kai is getting what he asked for after all, which is a crushing defeat.
However he still managed to impress Rex enough to score two points and get Rex to take him seriously.
Which is far more of a foot into the team than he had before this match.
I’m guessing that Kai will (probably) lose, but Rex won’t keep him to the waterboy role…at least not for very long.
After all, Kai is good enough to make a difference in a game (with this little training as well, imagine what places he could go to) and since Rex is all about winning, he’d be a fool to do away with a potential asset like that.
Good observations. Kai certainly made a good impression by getting two points. Still, we’ll have to wait and seeee :p
It seemed the problem is that after the initial confusion, his plan relied on trying to keep a wolf cornered…
I guess there is indeed a problem in keeping a wolf cornered :p
?!? I’ve cornered a wolf! HEELLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPP!!!!!!!
He will tied him self out
Who will get tired sooner though?
Don’t I remember something from the early ‘training’ part of this arc about Kai being very fast but short on stamina?
And wolves are generally known, I think, for their stamina.
That’s when they pace themselves. Going all out may be a problem.
Possibly; but, to play on the school team and be CAPTAIN of it Rex has to work hard at practicing and at staying in shape.
Kai just has fun at stuff and only gets casual conditioning. Rex -should- have way more stamina than Kai.
I’m disappointed that WelshRat hasn’t posted his poetry yet!
Even a Welsh Rat needs a vacation :p
He posted one now though ^^
Kai’s face in that last panel is PRICELESS. The world needed that. Thanks Robin. xP The tail swish by Rex is also a nice touch. Very fitting to his movements. You really do work well with both the anatomy and the personalities of all of your characters. It’s truly quite admirable. As far as the potions go, I have a proposition for you Robin. Maybe we could add them in as a Halloween special? Kaya finds them while trick-or-treating and, being Kaya, decides to give her brother and Rex each one of them? (She’d probably have to slip it to Rex. He’s going to start needing a food taster around her. xD) If we do do that idea, should this be the last week for propositions since you would need time to work on it, or should we give them one more? Of course, we could always just not make it a Halloween special. xP It’s your call. Peace! (Oh… and uh… sorry again about turning you pink last week. That wore off by now… right?)
I already had something else in mind for Halloween, so I’ll stick with the one or two potion sketches at the end. Good suggestion though ^^
I haven’t seen any pink for the last couple days so I guess I’m fine :p
1. Alright, suggestions are still being welcomed then.
2. Good to hear. This is why I’m supposed to check the DNA of non-dragons before giving them a potion. If I don’t, you get weird side effects. Like, oh, I don’t know, super-caffeine turning awesome comic authors pink.
when you said dragon and DNA i just thought a dragon with a pretty messed up body XD
I might not be WelshRat, but we don’t want to break with dear traditions, do we?
Hope it doesn’t suck too bad. 😀
A plan now foiled, all work in vain,
decided seems the course of game.
A ray of hope, spelled ‘stamina’,
If Rex runs out, Kai wins this war.
But far to slim his chances now,
and at the end, one has to bow.
Who will it be, who will emerge
victorious, the runt, the scourge?
The game’s not over, not by far.
But very high, they set the bar.
If waterboy or brilliant star.
The game decides. Or is this war?
Poor xul can’t get a holiday. :3
Glad I didn’t have to step up to plate this time. Never let it be said xes work goes unappreciated.
Didn’t suck that I can see.
Pretty good ^^
Thanks, I’m trying. 🙂
Shake him up and shake him out,
Fire him up and make him doubt.
It’s fine unless he gets fired up;
then flame will face fire, young pup.
His fire will burn, hot and bright,
his fur will glow, blazing white.
He’ll come in, scorching the floor
as he takes the game more than before.
His strength is skill, his skill known;
his pride was calm, now it’s blown.
Perhaps the battle is still to be won
How much faster is he having to run?
Glad you made it. People started wondering where you were :p
Okay, so the main strategy essentially poured oil into the fire. Huh. Interesting! ^^
Can’t wait to see whether Kai scores any more points at all.
If Kai can stay in the fight and get at least one more point before the end of the game,
that should be another signal to Rex that Kai could be worthwhile for the team.
“This guy just doesn’t give up or quit!”
I’m really liking Rex when I see him in action, especially as in this strip’s final panel.
Rex looks like he’s having fun, but does -not- look like he’s being ‘mean’ about it.
Kaya: “Time for plan B!” *Takes a pencil to the comic scoreboard and draws in a zero…Kai 20, Rex 3*
Rex: “Okay, time out! I’m pretty sure breaking the fourth wall IS a foul!”
Kaya: “Try finding that in the rulebook!”

actually its a violation (ಠ⌣ಠ)
Use your tail to swipe the ball, Kai!
