Sometimes a thing has to fall apart
before you can put it back together.
Sometimes it’ll be like it was before
but it gets a new look if you’re clever.
Sometimes you have to quietly shout
to be heard above all the ringing silence.
Lizzie doesn’t know how to handle this
as she struggles with Nate’s Pilonce (it IS a word, look it up! Nate’s settling accounts here)
There’s strength evident in weakness
and knowledge in knowing nothing.
Words that state our confusion ring
and, from that nothing, comes something.
You could have said Gratuity instead of Pilonce
Could have; wouldn’t have sounded as good. 😉 (IMHO!) 🙂
Yeah; I had to look it up…
I was trying to rhyme with ‘Silence’ Couldn’t think of anything.
‘Violence’ comes pretty close. 😉
So McThunder Pants can’t even figure out everything? At least it’s good he can’t come up with some annoying snarky line all the time as it was honestly getting on my nerves.
[Tjimmy1999]:
Sometimes you can’t accept the truth unless it’s being spoken by your own mouth.
Maybe Nate just needs to ask whatever question will get her to say out-loud whatever truth she already knows, because if Nate says it, she can fight AGAINST it.
No matter how bad things are, it’s still familiar, & therefore regarded as being better than the scary prospect of CHANGE.
If the ‘status quo’ was all that good, she wouldn’t be trying to talk sense into her group’s leader.
Nate has simply initiated change at a pace that is faster than she was prepared to accept, & so she lashes-out at him.
I feel like Nate only does the snark with people he likes. Also; he obviously knows when it’s counter-productive.
Now you know how Rex feels, having to put up with that every day xD
You’re trying to get someone to blame , Lizzy ? Nobody is guilty , but your friends
Need a slap to calm down and see the things quietly ? ^_^”
It’s not easy admitting your little group is actually guilty.
I don’t think Nate would slap someone xD
Why is it all falling apart? Well in part one could say karma, you three were using Cleo for years and when she finally broke away you were at a loss as to how to keep having all those nice things. Another part is definitely that your friend Larissa has some very real anger issues (and I would be awfully surprised if you hadn’t seen signs of this before now) and she has now allowed that temper to cause her to do something which will have serious consequences. Point of fact she should at some point in the future thank Nate for saving her from the consequences she could have been facing had she actually thrown that ball! When people are stuck in patterns of bad behavior, well sometimes they need to have their lives disrupted in order to help break them out of it. You’ve got an opportunity now Lizzie to do just that, drop some bad habits, make new friends, try to improve yourself. Heck, maybe once you’ve had time to think things over maybe try approaching Cleo on your own, make your apologies for how you took advantage of her in the past, and try to restart your friendship from there. At any rate, be thankful you aren’t sharing Larissa’s fate and move on with your own life, hopefully for the better!
Bel, we’ve been told she’s had the same three friends since first grade. Now, because of Kaya, one has left the group and two just got busted. It’s falling apart around her and Lizzie’s never had that happen before. She doesn’t know that what she was doing with Cleo wasn’t really being the friend she thought she was. She doesn’t know what to do now she’s on her own. Her head is spinning.
“Bel, we’ve been told she’s had the same three friends since first grade. Now, because of Kaya, one has left the group and two just got busted. I wouldn’t expect anyone to not be upset and confused in her situation, her life really got flipped around here since Kaya became friends with Cleo. Add in what just happened and yeah, not having tears flowing down her face would just be odd! However I will dispute that she was unaware of just how much she and the other two were taking advantage of Cleo. They were doing this for years, hard to believe she wouldn’t have realized it at least just a bit in that amount of time. As for why she didn’t try to stop this behavior sooner if she did realize it *shrug* I dunno. Best I can figure is that Larissa definitely was the leader of the group and Lizzie seemed content to be a follower. A follower will usually just go along with what the group is doing unless they try to do something the follower really finds objectionable, such as Larissa trying to throw that stone ball at Kaya.
There is one thing I will concede about Lizzie and that’s whether she knew just how upset Cleo was with how the group was taking advantage of her. Prior to Kaya showing up Cleo wasn’t raising any objections to how they were treating her, mainly because they were the only friends she ever had. I’m willing to believe Lizzie was simply ignorant on that matter.
Somehow I have a sneaky suspicion that Lizzy’s life has problems other than just Larissa and Dinah. I notice Lizzy is starting to get “the shakes” in panels 2 & 3. They promptly go away when she gets upset and lashes out in panel 4. Couple that with her statement in the last panel and I wonder… Could it be that Elizabeth has problems with an unstable homelife and her little group of “friends” provides her with a stability, even if unhealthy, that she can not depend on at home? I’m feeling even sorrier for Lizzy than I already was!
“Come back next week to see. Same Bat- …errr… Dragon-time! Same Dragon-channel!” 😉
These are teens, they probably aren’t that good at self reflection yet. Hell, there are some adults really bad at that. Lizzy probably thought that Cleo was doing it because she wanted to. And when the alternate is being alone, you can turn a blind eye to a lot of the stuff your friends do. Besides, I think it’s only since dealing with Kaya, since her authority has been questioned, that she has had to go further.
She will probably thank Nate in the future. Right now, she couldn’t bring herself to do so.
Or is kaya’s extreme luck I mean she did survive the sugar free gummy bears that she got from a top hat, monocle, mustache wearing hobo sloth wizard
I had to really think about what you meant, until I remembered your earlier comment about those xD
Nate can only show her the door, she has to walk through it.
You know, I had that in my script. Until I rewrote part of it and scratched it. Nate was going to say that exact saying xD
It get the feeling that this group that Cleo broke ties with never was **together** to begin with, at best they were loosely tied next to each other by something that really had no business trying to connect them in the first place.
I believe you’re not the only one to feel that :p
Seems she needs some time
To process all of this shit
Or Nate to kiss her! 🙂
careful though. Wouldn’t want to be caught on camera kissing a crying girl :p
Watch-out for this one, [Robin], they’re trying to distract you, so you won’t notice that they’re sneaking a Haiku past you!
😛
“Yes, you want her
Look at her, you know you do
Possibly she wants you too
There is one way to ask her
It don’t take a word
Not a single word
Go on and kiss the girl”
Shalalala xD
She should ask what would of happened if he didn’t interfere? Kaya would possibly of been hurt pretty bad, assuming that the aim of that ball was good enough. And then they would of had a much more extreme situation on their hands where she and her friends would of been taken to Jail for more than just damage to museum property. They would of possibly been expelled and messed up their futures pretty seriously. Things would of only gotten much worse for them. Their getting caught before they did any harm was a mercy.
Indeed, but it’s not always easy to see the situation for what it is when you’re in the middle of it. Besides, Lizzy DID try to stop Larissa, so she at least knew it would be worse if she got that ball launched.
“Would of” is incorrect. It should be “would *have*”.
That’s for the grammar fix. A little late to edit unfortunately.
“Kapitan!!! The ship, it sails!!!”
“Load tubes 1 and 3, and prepare to launch.”
“Aye aye sir!”
*Raise periscope, depth to 15 meters. Reduce sped to 5 knots, continue course ahead.”
*drools in anticipation*
*periscope goes black*
Please insert another quarter :p
Panel 5 feels os badass for some reason, Nate best boy!
Well, Nate said it as it is :p
Sometimes things have to come apart before you can put them back together and get something better.
Very true. Step one is pretty much complete now, on to step two xD
What Nate fails to understand, is that he’s isolated her from the group. And because she didn’t stick with the group though thick and thin, they’ll probably see it as a betrayal. Granted, Liz’s first preference would have been convincing Larissa to stand down and forget about Cleo and Kaya.
Of course, what Liz still hasn’t really grasped, is that the group was unhealthy for her, and despite her best intentions, was moving into darker territory. Though sh’ll get to that conclusion eventually, unlike Larissa, who just wanted to be in control, I think Liz just convinced herself that everything was fine, and they weren’t exploiting Cleo.
But all she knows at the moment, is that everything was fine until Kaya and others started interfering in their circle of friends. Though I wonder if Liz would have been ok it Kaya had joined that group had Larissa let her?
I wonder… If Larissa had allowed Kaya to join them, Kaya would have soon seen the group for what it was and quickly bailed. At that point Kaya might have collectively dismissed the whole group and Cleo would now still be with Larissa, Dinah, and Liz.
Which is why Larissa did not let Kaya join the group.
Kaya would have undermined her control.
And… I think that Kaya would have caught on pretty quickly what the group was, and would still have tried to save Cleo from it. She’s very sharp.
Nice summation and yeah it does a good job of explaining Lizzie’s point of view. I do hope as well that she will realize, and quickly, that where Larissa was leading their group was not anywhere good.
Few, Kaya joining that group? Even if Larissa had let her, I think their would have been constant struggles between Kaya and Larissa. Kaya is not one to back down, as we have seen before :p
Poor Liz. 🙁 *Hugs*
She really needs a hug right now.
the good news is that lizzy actually seemed to want to be Cleo’s friend, and just just have access to Cleo’s money. so if she can be brought into the group, she should be rehabilitated somewhat, eventually.
but at the moment it is clear that she isn’t used to people doing things out of kindness rather than manipulation.
*and NOT just have access to cleo’s money.
ugh, gotta remember to check what i wrote before i hit post.
Yeah, good observation. Lizzy does have some different intentions than the others.
Seems that lizzy had no problem to use Cleo’s money , meanwhile : https://www.twindragonscomic.com/comic/kaya-in-the-shadows/
Well, yeah. Back then she thought Cleo ENJOYED spending money on them like that.
Looks like I’m a little late to the game. Everyone already summed it up so well. Welsh Rat just about grabbed all the good info in that awesome poem of his. So I guess I’ll keep this comment short. It’s not always easy to change things, even for the better. It can be hard to let go of the past, especially if you didn’t think it was broken. But usually it ends up being worth it when all is done. Hopefully she can come to realize that. Unless she already has and is merely struggling to accept it. An amazing plot and show of life in these characters as always Robin. Keep up this breathtaking work and as always, stay awesome!
And I just realized that this is more likely the, main, source of Lizzy’s tears than being in such big trouble, especially when you add in her questions at the end.
At least he isn’t going with “life is Lego”. There group was based on one person. Them being removed left the group unconnected.
Potentially she can be attached to the new group though shouldn’t be attempted clumsily.
Don’t be ungrateful, Lizzie, he protected you.
Lizzie: “Why is everything falling apart?”
Nate: “Entropy?”
Lizzie: “Okay, that explains it.”
