Kaya rip-riding away
to the pain of the ground.
The weight of the Dragon
is something quite profound.
Coffee fears hold sway
as you watch the day dawn;
revealing the passion
and a need to fix the lawn.
More rolling today
than rocking the streets
on the two wheel wagon;
Ride of the Dragon elites…
Diolch yn fawr iawn.
And at this pace, mayhaps they’ll be rocking the streets by sunset.
Even if it’s just because they can’t find the brakes! 🙂
Rev it up, Kaya!!!
One of the early lessons: throttle control.
What did you call it, throttle control? Never heard of it!
Truth is I’ve only ridden a MC once. I was 12 years old and we were visiting my aunt. Her son is a year older, so 13 at the rime, and we visited them at their summer house way beyond civilized city. Her husband had bought their son a trail bike. It was 125 CC and he drove it in the woods around their house. We’ll he wanted me to try it out, and at that age you didn’t really consider safety or laws all that much. We went to an abandoned mining site close by and I got on that thing. A quick explanation about the gear selection, clutch and brakes and I was off on the old road. It worked fabulously until I tried to turn back. I did a left turn using the entire road width but not being used to the bike and having short arms meant I turned up the throttle when turning the handlebar to the left.
A trial bike isn’t built for top speed but for acceleration and strength when powering up close to vertical cliffs or when jumping from boulder to boulder. So that bike took off, jumping the shoulder of the road and raced away into the forest with me hanging from the handlebar flapping in the wind. Surprisingly I was able to stay on the bike and get it back under control. I turned back towards the road and hit the gas again. This time I did a decent jump back on the road and carefully rode back and stopped. It was fun, but I was having a bad shake as I got off the bike. That was over 40 years ago and I haven’t been on a MC since. Throttle control, no need for throttle control.
I’m not sure the other side of the house is a better idea. I mean from there she will probably see Kaya go rocketing past with Kai and Annabelle trying to catch up while screaming at her to stop.
Maybe they should wrap their tail around their body so that don’t hit or get hit by anything.
hm, depending how tough those scales are they could very well be considered light body armor…..have we ever seen them scratched up or bruised? i can´t remember right now
There was an incident with a loose scale at the Doctor.
It’s not the hitting on passing things, it’s running over their own tails I would be worried about. Armored or not, that would be hard to come back from.
They won’t run over their own tails any more than you run over your own feet. They know where their tail is just like you always know where your arms and legs are.
This. A tail isn’t like a scarf, where it’ll go wherever the hell the wind wants it to go; it’s a LIMB. It has muscles and nerves and touch receptors and all the same things as the rest of your body; you know where it is at any given moment, and you can CONTROL where it is, except maybe if you’ve been sitting on it for too long and it’s gone numb.
If anything they might be able to use their tails like rudders and have them help with turning.
I HAVE seen people run over their own feet. And their entire bodies! Only those people were doing stupid things I’m hoping the Twins are too smart to do….
But I can see them putting a solid wrap type thing around their tails so they can safely learn how to move them without getting them caught in anything, ran over or scraped on the ground/road. Yes, it is literally part of their bodies, but body parts get bounced around and accidents happen…
I will say it might be a good idea to install some kind of extension on the back of the bike that would let the twins rest their tail on it while riding, helping to avoid fatigue from having to hold them up. The main other thing they might have to remember with their tails is traffic. Since their tails extend so far out from their bodies it’s going to be important for them to remember to either keep their tails in line with the scooter or wrapped close to it. Definitely don’t want to let their tails wag too far to either side because that’s a good way to get them smacked, and injured, by other motorists.
Oh, I dunno, I’ve snagged fingers in spokes before. Probably better this is a Vespa and not a Scarabeo, Scarabeos have exposed wheel spokes a loose tail might get caught in.
Poor Sabrina, mama of dragons… Hopefully they have extra strength chamomile tea. Wait, well, maybe not extra strength, she still needs to be awake.
Annabella seems as excited as Kaya for that stunt. Kai, not so much… I wonder if Annabella would still be proud of Kaya’s “skills” after Kaya goes almost full Spongebob on that moped… Hopefully she won’t complete every lyric of that Weird Al song. Hopefully Kai is just as skillful and much more cautious behind the, er… handlebars when it’s his turn.
I can tell by that last panel that Annabella is a Kaya enabler. As long as everyone is okay afterwards, I bet she’s up for it.
Annabella is Italian for Anenabler.
“….Hopefully she won’t complete every lyric of that Weird Al song….”
You wouldn’t happen to mean Weird Al Yankovic’s She Drives Like Crazy?

I…….. am hoping that won’t be the result of these lessons…
…But I can’t rule it out…
Yes, that is exactly what I was mentioning. I’m glad someone got the reference! XD
I wonder how they will seat one behind the other with their tail
Will the one who damages the lawn have to repair the lawn?
Panel 6: Add a comma to “Oh”.
No.
That’s an exclamation. A comma would be incorrect.
Sabrina is desperately trying to stop herself from being an overprotective mom, but it’s an uphill battle.
Her helicopter is fueled and ready to go.
“Get your motor running, head out on the highway. Looking for adventure, and whatever comes our way.
Born to be wild.”
Drinking coffee on shaky nerves is probably not a good idea, but so is forgoing morning coffee too. Sabrina made the right choice, let Marco watch them and take care of things if needed.
Also town won’t be sleepy for long once Maya rides in.
Those tails make for good balance. And the scales are like a whole body leather suit.
A new baby driver. “Is she slow?”, “she drives live the devil.”
Better a scooter than a full size motorcycle. Some of them are seriously over powered, by hot rodder standards. To say nothing of someone experienced with a normal car.
Can I get a higher res version of the last panel?
…or at least a higher res version of the background? I’d like to see that skid in higher res. (Also, I’m trying to figure out if the cousin is excitedly happily shouting at Kaya, or if she’s excitedly worriedly shouting at Kaya.
Annabella is pretty clearly fist-pumping, so I’d go with happy. Kai, judging from the visual effec, is panicking.
High res files are available on Patreon for every page.
But I’ll give you a screenshot of the high resolution of the part you wanted to see ^^

Gotta ask, still learning throttle control, deliberate full throttle with/without intentional burnout, or both?
Probably a bit of both, knowing Kaya xD
Annabella: “So, when you turn, it’s like a bicycle, you need to lean into it. You can also use your tail as a counterbalance. Just make sure you don’t completely let off the throttle, or other bad stuff can happen.”
Kaya: “So, like this?”
(Last panel here.)
Annabella: “That’s it!”
Thank you very much!
Oh yeah, Annabella is definitely a Kaya enabler. Sabrina, best just go back to bed.
This can only end in fire.
Or begin with fire.
Either way, fire is going to be involved somewhere in this.
I’m sure the scooter has an internal combustion engine, so yes, fire is involved. 😉
Doesn’t it also have a battery? I mean it is supposed to be a hybrids’ scooter…
