Finally, the satisfaction on Kai’s face XD
It was needed xD
So not the first mythicals to show up but the first known dragons. Ok, guess I can’t blame the doc for being excited to be the first to examine Kai then. Wonder if he’ll go beyond a basic exam now or if he’ll set up further appointments for a more in depth look at Kai and what makes him unique (aside from his sister).
Yeah, being the first to examine a dragon must be pretty special, even in the medical field of hybrids :p
So well , the doctor finally accepts the fact that Kai is a dragon . And we learn too there is some other rare hybrids in this town ; i hope the twins will meet them soon
It was about time Kai got the recognition :p
Well, I wouldn’t be hinting at other mythicals if I didn’t have any plans with them eventually, right :p
Griffon hybrid, whom Kaya will try her best to give a hug!
I think that a mammoth hybrid would be fun to see
I’m a lizard, but I can only breathe fire after a heavy dose of chili.
And after drinking beer also breathing on a lit matchš„š„
If I recall properly, reptiles are not affected like mammals by hot peppers. Their nerves do react the same way as ours do. Birds too. Give an iguana and a rodent the same size an equal supply of Jalapenos and the rodent will only take one bite before rapidly seeking relief. The lizard will just keep slowly munching.
That is due to the undeniable fact that us reptiles are 300% more awesome than mammals.
You’re still lucky. Most people can only breathe fire throught the other end after said dose of hot chili xD
The fourth panel looks like someone’s furry OC than an actual hybrid.
Iz mineā”
Got my cameo to show though had to tone him down for TD lore reasons
ā¤ļø That’s cool!
Congratulations, Sherouken! That’s one to treasure!
That is pretty darn neat, congrats!
It’s a cameo š
Fun fact: this kind of coloring is something that can canonically happen in the story as there are fur coloring products, just like we have hair color products to achieve funky colors. Rainbow hair is only the start of what you can do with them :p Some crafty individuals jumped at the opportunity to make hybrid specific cosmetic products and they’re doing pretty well ^^
Heās now rushing, heās now gushing
and telling what you know;
heās conferring, almost purring,
youāre uniqueness is on show.
You know the truth, youāve seen the youth,
and lived with them as well;
you risk a smile, you show your tooth,
as dignity rings a new bell.
Their History, no mystery,
itās laid out for us on a plate.
Tounge-twistery (and blistery)
heāll put the damage on your slate…
Replying to myself. Better 7th line and I typoed ‘tongue-twistery’ (Apt, I know…) And blistry is actually a word that relates directly to blisters caused by heat.
Heās now rushing, heās now gushing
and telling what you know;
heās conferring, almost purring,
youāre uniqueness is on show.
You know the truth, youāve seen the youth,
and lived with them as well;
you smile, forsooth, you show your tooth,
as dignity rings a new bell.
Their History, no mystery,
itās laid out for us on a plate.
Tongue-twistery (and blistery)
heāll put the damage on your slateā¦
“You’re uniqueness…” As in “the fact that you are unique,” or, “the uniqueness belonging to you”?
Thumbs up for the more intricate rhyme scheme.
Yay! He’s now an authenticated dragon by the government!
Government dragon xD
Now let’s hope the pay is good xD
Probably only for the military.
I sense a “but” coming…
Now, why would he have any ‘buts’ ready, he got a brand new dragon to examine. Imagine the bragging he can do at the lunch table xD
Yes but itās still an assumption being made. His DNA canāt be checked against a full dragon to confirm.
There are other mythical fire breathers.
Chimeras and Typhon for example.
An ifrit or Cherufe are less likely
If there’s no such thing as a Full Dragon, guess what?
Kai and Kaya can legally BECOME full Dragons.
Excellent deduction, Doc.
Yes Kai, you’re finally a dragon. Congratulations.
Congratulations are certainly in order. It took way too long to get him to believe it xD
Heh, well at least Kai is happy since to him, all this means is that he does count as a dragon.
Yup, it’s a win for Kai xD
Don’t get smug in front of Smaug.
Smaug was smug enough! š
It’s pretty much in his name. SMaUG xD
But, Smaug approves :p
The dragon in the 5th panel looks like Clay from wings of fire (it a new novel series my favourite books. got the books from 1 to 10 not counting the 2 graphic novels) so that how they tell what type of hybrids they are. But dragons arenāt mythical they are just extinct like Dinosaurs.(cause Dinosaur are huge reptiles and dragons are huge reptiles that have unique abilities) robin have you read my ideas in the comments in the comic before the last one? I have a little activity for your spare time it in the gamer dragons comments
I love that series, waiting eagerly for the next book.
Hey Toby. I read every comment, but I don’t always have the time to leave a comment ^^
I haven’t read that novel, but it does sound pretty interesting, with the dragons being extinct instead of mythical.
Find a copy of the dvd, “Dragons: A Fantasy Made Real”. There are actually two versions; I -think- the other one is called more like “Dragons World”. They share a lot of footage. One is done like a “nature documentary” and has Patrick Stewart narrating. The other is more like a “movie”. Really well done for the budget. š
Wait till the doc finds out he has a twin sister in the next room.
That ought to be fun, I can imagine him having one of those huge melodramatic gasps with a OMG or SQUEE!
TWO DRAGONS?!
xD
LOL He’ll have to share publication credit!
I hope the Doc does not try to register ādragonā on the computer, only to find that the other doctor has already entered Kaya š
And at least the doc has finally accepted that ādragonā is the best term for Kai. Purely because he canāt think of a better term for a fire breathing lizard. Iām sure there is a term from some game or work of fiction, but that would probably be copyrighted.
Also, making up terms is only for when he’s the first to discover Kai. He has to check if that’s the case before he makes up a name xD
[Robin]:
I predict that the Doctor will be disappointed to learn that the physician(s) in Kai’s hometown have already exercised their naming-rights.
—
It would serve him right, for not first consulting the medical history, from the patient’s previous caregiver.
Congratulations Kai. While Kayaās doctor is busy taking useful notes on baseline vitals, you have managed to have your own examining experience one of the greatest days of his professional career. For once you get to be the twin bringing out the energy. (Well, aside from when youāre pissed at someone for trying to hurt Kaya. But thatās more negative energy. And thermal energy.) You didnāt even have to set off the smoke alarms in the process. Iād say that once you add to all that the fact that Kai is now an officially recognized genuine dragon, today is a pretty big āWin.ā Good work little dragon. Youāve made an impact in the world.
Funny thing about dragons, they are attributed to having different properties depending on the culture you’re talking about. In China, the dragon is called Lung, which is ironically enough their word for dragon, and aside from its radically different form from European styled dragons, its breath is different as well. Lung breath a mist-like substance called Zen Chi, which roughly translates to “essence of life” and this mist is said to have the power to cure any ailment and mend any wound with little to no issue.
Meanwhile, European style dragons are what Kai and Kaya seem to resemble most, although I think it would hilarious is if they went through something that caused a radical shift in the breath type of one or both of the two, for some reason Kaya as thunder dragon just makes me laugh on inside.
I searched for webcomics about dragons because theyāre kinda my favorite thing on earth and iāve finished this comic in less than an hour. Can I haz more pages please.
Plenty more to come! …but it’ll cost you pizza. š
Iāll get thirty of em
Well this is the face needed for Kai and I bet the doc will be like is the twin the same way š
Doc: “Yes, you are really a dragon. Now we just need to get you FAA certified for your wings…”
Kai: “I…don’t have those.”
Doc: “I know, it’s just one of those stupid rules…”
[Silverwolf]:
This could go either way:
1)__My 1st thought was “Bureaucracy. Red-Tape. Bleah.”
2)__Then I thought: “Hold-on — maybe they’ll grow-in later…? As part of …Puberty…?”
Well, believe it or not, it’s theoretically possible to at least develop six limbs, including a pair of wings.
In development, there’s a set of genes called the Homeobox (HOX) genes. Differential expression of these genes can produce limb growth at different points along the long axis of the embryo (which becomes the spine in a developed offspring). The degree of activation also determines what that limb will become…a fin, a hand, even a wing. The tail is the spinal extension beyond the final set of limbs.
If there were to be a six-limbed hybrid, it would most likely be born that way. If the twins were to grow wings, there would need to be a prototypical structure awaiting some kind of growth signal, which could grow into full wings over time. Unlikely, but not impossible…there are precedents in nature. Of course it’d also lead to some issues growing up. (Kaya: “Am I evolving into Charizard?”)
And, there’s the final determinant of whether or not Kai and Kaya gain wings, and that’s Robin, who already said they ain’t getting them. Of course, people do change their minds, but that’s strictly Robin’s purview. However, there is a real-world mechanism for this kind of development.
Interestingly enough, there’s another protein responsible for different structural developments, named Sonic Hedgehog. It has an inhibitor named Robotnikinin. And I am not kidding…those are the real, scientific names for these proteins. (The discoverer of the protein was struggling to find a name, his wife comes in with a gaming magazine with Sonic the Hedgehog on the cover, and he went with that. The name of the inhibitor then fell into place.)
