Well… that happened. I was expecting Cleo to have a chart of contributions and necessities to indicate that she’s not doing more than 10% of the work, so she doesn’t deserve more than 10% of the profits. But this is way better. They’re not just business partners for the moment, this is a long-term business relationship.
Also, the twins are a walking #FunnyBackgroundEvent and I suspect more of this behaviour will appear during the festival.
makes sense – a good chef in the background is needed if you want to start your own fleet of food trucks. he can develop easy recepies that can be prepared in the cramped kitchen of a truck that even non-chefs can follow, for example, something cleo obviously doesn´t have the slightest clue about…..and its cheaper in the long run for her to pay him a ‘consulting fee’ rather then make him a partner and give him a percentage of the business
Business snek knows her stuff! Think Marco is pretty much sold! Love the twins in this one too! Hmmm that last panel, know a commentator mentioned the truck having a horn that would play Mexican music and I wonder if that’s actually going to be a thing. I get the feeling Cleo hasn’t actually inspected the truck yet so maybe it will be one of those “happy little surprises”. Perhaps with Marco getting a little impatient in traffic or maybe Kai and Kaya tagging along to the festival and Kaya getting a little rambunctious in the cab while Marco is setting up.
Second thought: While Cleo knows the business side I wouldn’t mind seeing her get some hands on experience on the food prep side assisting Marco in the truck. She might get a little flustered at first but if Kai & Kaya are there too (maybe to help bring in customers) to help support them I’m sure she’ll get through it fine.
It will do Chloe good to have practical hands on experience of the work.
Bosses function better if they know how to do the job.
That applies in other fields, too. My dad was a career navy enlisted man (retired in 1993), and he said that (A) although an Ensign (lowest ranking naval officer) just graduated from the academy outranks a Chief Petty Officer with 15 years’ worth of experience, if that ensign is smart he’ll shut up and listen when the CPO is talking within his area of expertise, and (B) the best, most competent officers he ever knew, in his 20+ years in the navy, were the “mustangs”: officers who had started out as enlisted men and came up through the ranks and therefore had the years of experience in “the other guys’ shoes”.
I would almost fully agree with that.
Except, when I was in the RAF, the biggest waste of oxygen I knew was an officer who had come up from the ranks.
The more I think about it the more likely I think it is that the twins will tag along to the festival. Hopefully they will be able to help draw in a nice big crowd for Marco and the food truck. Of course it could also be a chance for wacky hijinks in another part of the city too.
(Jauntily)
Oh, she’s got him, she’s got him,
dear oh dear, she’s got him.
She’s got her chef, he is the best,
put her offer to the test.
She’s got him, she’s got him,
find a parking space to slot in;
you’re going to have to just impress;
the food’s more important than how you dress.
She’s got him, she’s got him,
he’s signing up for the prelim.
She’s got her empire on the rise
with a kitchen that won’t cook fries.
She’s got him, she’s got him,
he’s going out on her new whim;
a fine new adventure is beginning.
Raise a glass ‘cause Cleo’s winning!
She’s got him, she’s got him.
(Probably)
poem rat strikes again
I have severaly Q’s about world stuff (mainly the twins)
1-Do they have middle names?
2-Do they have any other hobbies than V-games (Ik Kaya has singing/yt and Kai has sports but anything else?)
3-What does their mother do?
4-(This one’s a little dark WARNING) Are there people out to get Hybrids to experiment on them?
5-Is the phenomenon of Hybrids due to any form of alien interaction
6-Why such a sudden turn from human to hybrid? Shouldn’t there’ve been a more subtle change?
7-Do the twins have a V-game style preference? Such as fighting, adventure, sandbox, etc.?
I just want to familiarize myself with the characters & world more than the main arc gives. I also understand if some of these cannot be answered due to the lore/plot of the Hybrid world that will be important/revealed later in the series.
Yours, NZ
I don’t know a lot of the details but I can say the hybrid phenomenon is a complete mystery at this point. Sixteen years ago the first was born with no warning. Since then it was estimated that about one in every thousand is born a hybrid. Considering the current world population and rate of growth that is quite a bit. And as of yet nothing sinister has been hinted at being done to hybrids. I could see some ambitious tycoon or warlord getting it in their head that hybrids could be harvested to make supersoldiers or something like that. Maybe living weapons like in “Young Justice: Outsiders” where meta-human trafficking is an ongoing problem.
There probably are some, but from what we have seen of hybrids, I doubt it’s that successful, even mythical hybrids, don’t seem to be relevantly superior soldier material in modern wars, and their looks make them poor infiltrators and assassins, which is the only form of war hybrid powers seem relevant to.
I mean Kai and Kaya have fire breath, minor super strength and are rather tough, in a medieval world that would make them terrors on the battlefield, but in a modern war, it at most mean you might need to shoot them twice instead of once to kill them.
Normal hybrids have even less war potential, Cleo is basically a normal girl with a tail, and she might have a poisonous bite(I don’t know what snake specie she’s a hybrid of) I don’t even think her skin is much if any tougher than human skin, and her potentially having poison, make her one of the more potentially dangerous hybrids, the wolf and dog hybrids at most have sharper teeth, and might have clawlike nails.
4: The closest we’ve seen to that would be Jin’s previous doctors and they weren’t so much experimenting as trying to figure out how to treat what they thought was a hallucination of his.
Mr. Stargate does have a point: it’s entirely possible given the world population & birth rates of hybrids that some are trying secretly to gather/use hybrids for their own nefarious purposes but it’s something I’m doubtful we’ll ever see in the Twin Dragons comic though as it’s supposed to be family friendly content.
1-Do they have middle names?
None have been given so far
2-Do they have any other hobbies than V-games (Ik Kaya has singing/yt and Kai has sports but anything else?)
Kaya has singing on her Utube channel, Kai has the Basketball team and Benji has got them interested in Catacombs and Drakes (D&D)
3-What does their mother do?
Sabrina a is a psychologist, for the cast page
4-(This one’s a little dark WARNING) Are there people out to get Hybrids to experiment on them?
Not seen and a little to dark for this web comic.
The closest seen are the tests carried out at the hospital as part of the annual physical check up.
They did plan on additional strength and stamina tests.
5-Is the phenomenon of Hybrids due to any form of alien interaction
Robin has yet to give a explanation for its cause.
6-Why such a sudden turn from human to hybrid? Shouldn’t there’ve been a more subtle change?
It happens in utero, Hybrids are born that way. See the first page.
7-Do the twins have a V-game style preference? Such as fighting, adventure, sandbox, etc.?
Timesplitters seems to a favourite.
Thank you all but i was asking Robin…
Most of your questions have been asked before. So some of the early generation fans could pass on the answers.
Oh. I never read/commented early on so I guess if any of the q’s have been asked I would’ve missed it.
Chloe is the living embodiment of a snake oil saleswoman. This is fact.
But she’s not selling snek oilz……
>:)
No, she’s buying it. How do you think she keeps from rusting?
That’s racist! >:O
…or speciesist, or something…
A “snake oil sales(wo)man” describes someone selling something that their customers do not need and being dishonest about the value and quality of their product. By calling Cleo a snake oil saleswoman, you are accusing her of scamming Marco and abusing his lack of knowledge for her own gain.
And here I thought it was just an innocent little play-on-words…joke! 🙂
Trust the snake!
Interesting how on this and the previous page the twins really aren’t necessary for plot purposes at all, but are shown sticking their heads into the panels and being cute anyway! It really wouldn’t feel like a TwinDragons without them. 🙂
“The Photo-Bomber Twins!” 🙂
Stealing the show hands down. 😀
My favorite bit in this one is Kai’s smirk!
It’s a small detail, but I love that she says up front that she doesn’t know anything about cooking, the same way she said earlier that she doesn’t know anything about sports. “Know what you don’t know” is an important rule in business (and something a lot of teenagers can’t do!) so it looks like the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.
So Marco agrees. Let the food trucking commence!
The twins gave me a much needed laugh on this page today, thanks for that. Twin panel 3: “whoa/wow!”, panel 4: “soooo?”, panel 5: ” yes!”
JESSE’S ADVENTURE: Only two? That means “a few” are missing!
I have a feeling that we might be meeting someone from Cleo’s family in the near future, probably not her dad (that will probably happen after the Food Truck section) but someone else, like maybe her mom. I get the feeling Cleo is an only child, currently, and part of the reason she likes spending time with Kaya and Kai s because it makes her feel like she’s part of a bigger family in addition to getting a look at what sibling dynamics can be like, maybe even shoot for.
I get the feeling that Cleo likes to have templates for a lot of things, and that includes relationships, which may or may not be a healthy way to look at things, it’s probably not a healthy way to view relationships at her age (it can possibly be so when she’s older and needs examples of various relationships for whatever reason, but at her age, it’s potentially unhealthy).
Cleo has a tremendous academic intelligence, and Kaya has proven she can at least keep up with her in that arena, but at the same time Cleo seems to have an emotional intelligence that still needs some work at her age and she has kind of admitted, in a roundabout way, that her social intelligence needs work. Although to be fair, the twins seem to have a more advanced emotional intelligence than is usually found at their age (you can thank a freaking Xenophobic backwater town for forcing that development to accelerate it).
But hey, that’s just my take on things.
Just had a thought reading that: have we ever seen Cleo refer to her mother? I can’t really recall her doing that, just her dad and the butler. Single parent household maybe?
I noticed that too
And still the twins enjoying the show !
Not directly Twin Dragons related.
One of the groups I am in post an image of a food truck.
Do an image search for:
tilas tacos food truck
Well it made me laugh.
i love how kaya is laying on top of kai on the table. and kai’s face in the 4th panel is SO smug.
Cooking 101: if it needs no preparation then its fast food.
Clearly she wants food of a higher standard so i expect her future planned fleet of food trucks to need a small industrial kitchen for preparation prior to cooking in the van. (I admit to having watched a certain cooking program involving a food truck)
Consulting fees. Cleo is a smart one, there’s no denying that. She’s both found a way to prevent Marco from feeling like he’s being given too much money upfront, and she’s investing in the ability to expand her business in the future should it be as successful as she hopes. The art is also particularly entertaining this week, considering that the twins are communicating entirely through facial expressions. We’re bound to be getting at least one new sticker out of this panel, but I’d be surprised if we can’t make more. Great way to start off the week as always Robin. Thank you for continuing to work on this amazing comic. And as always, stay awesome!
Cleo has all planned : you just have to say that you’re OK , Marco ^_^
“Critical Hit”
I see what you did there, and I like it XD
I cannot say enough how much I love the twins’ reactions in the background 😃 They have a lovely nature 😄
“9999 business damage”? Clearly, the snake needs a Genji Glove.
Panel 3: Okay; is Cleo doing her Power-Pose? Or is she auditioning for a job with Clementine? 🙂
*Sigh* Oh how i love Kai and Kaya’s faces…
yay
Marco: “So what kind of equipment does this food truck have?”
Cleo: “Well, it has a modified deep fryer which boils water instead and a Kitchen-Aid mixer for dough, we can hitch a small refrigerated trailer for ingredients so you have room in the back for work. The range can be modified as you will. The chassis has full roll protection, active stabilization, and for added safety, laminated titanium and depleted uranium armor.”
Marco: “Wait, what?”
Cleo: “It also has radar detection for the road, anti-radiation missiles, a deployable close-in weapons system, Javelin rockets under the headlights, smokescreen in hickory, mesquite, or pecan, olive oil slicks, and a THX-certified audio system.”
Marco: “Hold on, start where you said ‘depleted uranium armor…'”
Kaya: “Can we have Hello Kitty faces on the missiles?”
Marco: “When I said ‘Equipment,’ I wasn’t expecting the James Bond option package.”
