Boxing smart in a Library,
trying to draw Mischa from her shell.
You don’t have to be Merlin to see
things are not going so well.
They’d rather a friend than a PC
you can tell them oh, so much more.
And when they’re being foolish
you can point out every flaw.
Don’t look so chagrined, young lady;
these are crazy friends you’ve made.
If you force them out right now
you’ll soon wish that they’d stayed.
(Except, perhaps, Nate.)
Percy Jackson? … or is that just a red herring? :p
its definetly percy jackson (I know my books)
Might be 30, 31, 75, 12 ?
don’t think so: the lock is asking for single digit numbers
It didn’t make a lick of sense to me as to why the Olympians thought Percy was the thief in the first place.
My solution to that question was “Zeus is an idiot” and to move on
Vers simple reason: the big three should not have a child – they were too powerful. He broke that oath, therefor he had an access to a possible “weapon” against his siblings. Even those, whom realised he cannot be the thief, wanted him dead – they just cannot find an acceptable reason for it. After all they didn’t side with Percy, but either Zeus or Poseidon. And Zeus didn’t had his most powerful weapon on top of that.
Not having read the book, the only codes I can guess are 5629 and 7868 (both part of the ISBN)
“You will find me with the lightning thief”
Could mean another book in the series (or the ISBN’s).
Probably a note on a slip of paper inside the book.
My first thought was actually Prometheus, until I rememberd that he stole fire, not lighning. But yes, Percy was my second thought, too, although it was for the story and not the book title, ’cause the title in my country doesn’t include lightning.
As for the code, I don’t really remember any codes from the story, so my guess is on the release year of the book.
They’re in a library. It might be the Dewy Decimal code of the book.
Daniel here.
Maybe it’s NOT Percy Jackson? Every band and board game seen so far has its name altered slightly, maybe Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief has a different name too? Might be as simple as Jackson Percyville And The Lightning Thief, could be more complex…
Guess we have to wait till next week…
Funnily enough there was a book that came out around the time of the Percy Jackson series called “the storm thief” that I picked up hoping for more of the same, turned out to be a sci-fi story with the titular storm thief being “probability storms” that had ribbons of light instead of lightning. If a ribbon passes through you the thief changes something, from the color of your lipstick to your ability to breath unassisted.
Peter Johnson and the lighting thief
🙂
That would be the version of the events Mr D wrote in his free time?
I need this now.

And we’re back at the library. I like how Misha is having none of Kaya’s silly energy.
It’s a Russian thing.
Seeing her face , Misha is surely thinking the trio is becoming “lightly” invasive ^_^”
So they need to find a book which may have another clue, alright. And Misha! You’re supposed to smile and be friendly when helping patrons of the library! XD
Oh Misha. Once Kaya has locked onto you as “potential friend” I don’t think you’re getting out of it any time soon. xD Besides, you DID prove helpful earlier by knowing the layout of the library and having seen the setup, so I think you’re able to provide a bit more information than just looking up the book on the computer. I do like the reference though Robin. A pleasure to read as always, keep up the good work. And as always, stay awesome!
Kaya wants to involve the library puppy
Kaya’s friendship is not negotiable.
Pity they don’t follow the Lock Picking Lawyer. That thing can be opened in 30 seconds, easy.
… or in three seconds with hammer, but wouldn’t that be cheating?
Would bolt cutters be over kill?
Come on, she’s a Dragon…
.
…Bit of fire breathing, melt either the padlock or the lock itself (or both) enough to bend/tear them and boom – easy access…
What?
Daniel the Human says Kaya doesn’t have enough flame control to avoid all those flammable books, but that’s not a big problem, is it?
Is it?
Her fire is nowhere near the hot, focused flame of a cutting torch. The lockbox would at most get tarnished and sooty. Its contents might get destroyed though.
Come to thing of it, Kaya has super strength, she could probably just break the lock with her bare hands
Kaya does -not- have “super strength.” The twins are certainly way over strong for humans their age, but Kaya is not Supergirl. 😉
She’s still strong enough to break a cheap lock
Last panel: For some reason I really like the flow of line along the top of Misha’s forearm, across the back of her hand and out along her extended finger. Dunno why; but that flow is really nice.
Anyone else get the idea that Kai and Kaya’s puzzle paths got switched somehow? 🙂
I got the same impression about the paths, and I think it’s made the chapter better. Kaya has to quietly think in a library and Kai has to get up and perform in front of people, so they’re each getting forced out of their comfort zone.
Oh, good thought! And I agree 100%! 🙂
Same, like it when people remember things like this about the comic and characters and come up with these kind of observations.
Daniel here.
Who’s to say that wasn’t deliberate? Get Kai to open up a bit more, get Kaya to learn a little restraint, while hopefully having a good time…
Could be! Astrid planned this, and she doesn’t know the twins, but she could have gotten a summary of their personalities from Cleo.
Daniel again… 😋
I’d say there’s also a good chance Astrid also contacted the Twins parents. Wouldn’t want to put together a XYZ themed party, only to discover their family is actually highly opposed to XYZ for some reason. And with that sorted, she could find out some more information to help her plan everything…
Those three haven’t heard of the Lightning Thief?! Do they live in a cave?! Has Kai read the book and its series? The Twins definitely should, it would help them learn more about their heritage as Ancient Romans. I’m surprised Mr. Cheater McThunderpants hasn’t tried looking up the answers again.
Once again, Kaya defies the laws of reality by making Misha go from a Cocker Spaniel Hybrid to a Pointer Hybrid. Poor doggo is now friends with a Dragon girl as equally goofy as she is, whether she likes it or not!
Yeah – we’re back to Kaya’s group, and: Yeah!! – called it (all right, that’s technically not a second safe, but definitely close enough)
Do literally none of them know about the Percy Jackson series?
I’m not a ginormous fan or anything, but I’ve still heard of it, and seen a couple of the movies. 😅 It’s just hard for me to imagine not having heard of “The Lightning Thief,” esp. since, in my mind, it wasn’t THAT long ago. 😕
(Granted, I might be fooling myself on how long it’s been… and I’m nervous about looking it up and finding I’m WAY wrong, so… I don’t think I will this time around. It’s not that important for me to know. 😂)
Well, the book was published in 2005 – before these kids where born (at this point of their floating timeline)
The first movie is fine. They take some liberties, but it’s still mostly the same story(other than what they did with Hades) the next movie went so far off the rails it should have been it’s own thing
The only thing “Percy Jackson” makes me think of is “PETER Jackson” and “Lord of the Rings.” 🙂
Movies… Kinda like the first and only(?) “Eragon” movie. If they’d changed the names you’d have trouble figuring out what book they were filming from.
One weekend my family rented eragon to watch since I was a fan of the books at the time, half an hour into the movie I was kicked out to wait on the porch with our dogs for the rest of the movie. I still haven’t watched more than that, and from what I’ve heard I don’t want to
If filmmakers want to write their own stories, why can’t they just be honest about it and come up with their own titles for their own stories? Why do they have to slap a book title on a story that has nothing to do with that book?
Is it that they hope to attract a bigger audience by marketing a movie as if it’s based on a famous book?
Yup!
The main problem is they try to cram four books into one movie, so it’s neither original, or true to the source material, which is an excellent recipe for a movie that fans are garenteed to hate. And since the fanbase is composed of 3/4 of an entire generation, that’s a really bad idea
They did a reasonable job with Harry Potter. Some differences, but not too many. The final disposition of the elder wand in book was more open ended that in the movie.
Regarding World Guide: Let me guess: The difference between furcoat brush for pets and for hybrids is only price and label.
About the tick protection spray from the world guide: Some tick potection sprays are fine for humans and dogs but can be poisonous to cats. Would that also an issue for feline hybrids?
Possible, but probably rare. The hybrids are known, in canon, to be almost entirely human physiologically.
Probably not, because they are a problem for cats, because they lick their fur. Which Dogs dont really or often do, and humans not at all.
But lets just assume the fancy scientists in the TD-verse have that covered. Wouldnt want to risk a lawsuit for a lot of dead hybrids wouldnt they 🙂
And than there is the question about things like grapes, xylitol, chocolate, or onions.
Probably not.
“A most joyous time has approached again this year. It’s hayfever season! -_-”
🎼 “It’s the least wonderful tiiiiime / of the year!” 🎶 (Fellow hay fever sufferer here. 🤧 )
Kaya, you are ASKING to end up on Not Always Right.
“I demand my right to… Wait…” 😉
I’m really loving this whole storyline so far. It’s been really interesting.
I’m pretty sure that this is about something similar to Percy Jackson, but with a different name, like any other thing that resembles something from our world.
Librarian: “Don’t pay attention to me. I’m supposed to change the safe code and put in another clue.”
Percy Jackson…but the clue is Nikola Tesla.
