Sabrina being a psychologist doesn’t mean she doesn’t have her own little and big insecurities. Luckily, she can work herself through it xD

Good to see the helmet issue already taken care of. Try as she might Sabrina is going to have to accept this, her kids driving. I’m sure they’ll be OK, and who knows, maybe in a year both parents may be assigning them little errands that will require the twins to drive somewhere to get it done, like groceries or getting supplies for the food truck.
Sabrina, there’s concern and then there’s overprotectiveness. You need to recognize when you start reaching for excuses to prevent something like that.
If I could upvote this, I would.
Especially when, from the sounds of it, the kids are tougher than the parents because they are dragons and literally armored.
Agreed with all of the above.
It always seems to be a mom’s duty to worry about her children.
Armor plated: which begs the question just how tough are their scales? Like if they do take a tumble from the scooter would something like road rash not be a thing for them or would they just get minor scrapes?
Headcanon: Kaya stuck her hand into a blender, and pulled it out again unblemished.
Close, she stole eggs from boiling water when she was younger :p
Kaya: “The trick is to be fast about it, because it does get hot if you take too long!”
Almost gave Sabrina a heart attack xD
That’s impressive, because hot water contains much more heat than a hot gas like a flame, and will transfer the heat efficiently.
Had the eggs been put into the boiling water just a moment earlier? Otherwise she would have had to let go of the eggs quickly, because they would have been too hot to hold.
She would throw them from one hand to the other because of that :p
> She would throw them from one hand to the other because of that :p
“Gee, shouldn’t my fire-breathing THROAT be able to take the heat better’n my hands?” 😉
“She would throw them from one hand to the other because of that :p”
Now I’m imagining Kaya juggling hot, hard-boiled eggs like a medieval jester. Not a bad mental image.
I knew they were heat resistant but that’s still pretty impressive.
Their scales and their structure aid in not getting cut as easily. It would help a bit with road rash, but it’s not like they won’t get it. It just takes a longer scrape over the ground for them to get it.
I would still feel sorry for the road.
Thanks for clearing that up Robin.
I would guess armor plated is a bit exaggerated given that they have tiny scales as part of their skin. But it seems to be similar to tightly woven chain maille.
Desperation and defeat
are the results for many parents.
Unable to stop what’s coming
and they’re the one relents.
Outmatched at every corner
by the good Romero clan.
The first mistake she made
was thinking they’d hold her plan.
The Mobile Dragoon Corps begins
it’s assault in sunny climes.
Getting around at running pace
is just a sign of the times.
Diolch yn fawr iawn.
My biggest concern would be how awkward it will be to put their feet down at a stop, since they’re only five feet tall.
I guess they can get away with leaning it and putting one foot down, since they’re strong enough not to drop it.
*Has a good look at last page, especially the top right panel showing the kids really close to the scooter…*
Yeah, just a slight tilt should be enough to get a foot on the ground, if that. And I wouldn’t worry about them dropping it, they’re probably both strong enough to pick the whole thing off the ground individually, let alone together…
They can always put their tail down as support if their legs have trouble reaching the ground. The tails are significantly longer.
That’s a good point. I hope it’s what they end up doing, because it would look pretty funny.
Hijinks ensue.
The twins are not only armor plated, but also have steel muscles, shock absorbent flesh, and titanium bones.
On the one hand, the twins are little scaly tanks capable of withstanding significant physical damage; on the other hand, Kaya is a chaotic little dragon of destruction with a short attention span and an impulsive brain. I’d be more worried about any pedestrians on or near the same road as Kaya. Kai should be ok, he’s more cautious and has a good head on his shoulders. Hopefully, he won’t play along with Kaya’s recklessness. Sabrina can’t protect her little mythical animals of mass destruction and magic forever, eventually they’ll be grown up and/or be able to fend for themselves (and I don’t mean self defense, they’ve got that covered).
They probably do have rather strong bones, because unusually strong muscles require correspondingly strong bones, and bone is living tissue that adapts to the forces it’s subjected to. Let’s not assume that they’re indestructible though. I’m sure they could get injured in a car crash for example.
“Little tanks” made laugh out loud at the dinner table in front of my confused parents😂
Lest we forget, the development of tanks necessitated that of anti-tank weaponry.
Not to overstep boundaries, but I’d be just a wee bit more nervous about Kaya than I’d be with Kai. Being that I bear the scars of a more powerful motorcycle (Suzuki 125, scars are just above my right elbow ).
I know how you landed! The injury I got flipping off my bicycle as a 20-year-old is in the same place. Is there a corresponding scar near your right knee?
Actually David, I sideswiped a barbed wire fence and then tipped over on the left side but got off before the bike could fall on me. Thankfully no, I landed on a grassy piece of front pasture on my family’s former small ranch.
I love pitiful Sabrina in panel six. 🙂
I also laughed at her “panicking muppet” look in panel four.
What do you wanna bet Kaya has her fingers crossed behind her back? 🙃
Yes yes, helicopter mom, They are far stronger than you are, I broke a few ribs and walked it off, however it didn’t heal right and all my short ribs on my left side have a peak. Kids need to learn, getting a boo-boo now and then is all part of that. Heck my youngest has 5 small scars on his head, 2 from a skateboard, 2 from fights, and one from a failed stunt on his bike… Kids…
Oh yeah, I forgot the one in his eyebrow from a tree and a snow sled…
I ride a motorcycle and I’d love to have dragon hide. I make do with proper gear.
Looking at this I can see where the twins inherited their giant eyes from.
Speaking of tough and strong, imagine one of them picking up martial arts as career path, unfair for their opponents? Yes, badass? Totally!
Probably a fair fight for Jin.
Still an unfair fight – Jin essentially has precognition with his partner, and extreme reflexes from the looks of it.
Guessing that they are much tougher in one direction than the other. Scales can be directional, nearly impervious in one direction, vulnerable in the other. And we know that removing a scale hurts, a lot.
This is why the twins won’t have wings. If they were flying tanks, they’d be warthogs.
And they’re probably not allowed to drink Red Bull.
Actually …

I dunno, I think they might be pumas…
I was talking about the A-10. Also known as the “Thunderbolt” or “Warthog.”
Hang on a moment; something got glossed over…I thought the twins were 13, and they just turned 14. Was I wrong? If so, is 15 the legal driving age where they live?
Also, I know that in their world, there are special chairs to accommodate hybrid tails. But, I can imagine that regulators would be hesitant to allow modified chairs in cars, since it might cause a safety concern if a “normal” person gets into the modified seat. So, when it comes to vehicles, do hybrids tend to prefer motorcycles and scooters, since the unmodified chairs in most cars wouldn’t be comfortable for their tails?
They were 14 and turned 15.
Cars with hybrid tail seats are apparently allowed at least in Italy.
A v_max of 25 km/h translates to a 50 cm³ engine, which is an “AM” type EU license today, minimum age 14 in Italy. Pre-2013, the Italian “patentino” had the same minimum age.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Driving_licence_in_Italy
P.S. to expand: The “patentino” covered “microcars” as well, but the EU system doesn’t know that category; best bet in that would be B1 “heavy quadricycles” with a minimum age of 16.
