🙂 I was just asking because I’ve never heard of “mood ears” except on Precocious, and I helped “invent” the phrase there. (It’s been too long and I’ve forgotten who else was involved in that; I think at least three readers.) I’m sure it’s around in other webcomics, just not ones on my reading list apparently…until now. 🙂
Humans have three vestigial muscles attached to each outer ear, allowing minor movement (“ear wiggling”). It’s useless to us because our ears are on the sides of our heads and so give us sense of directionality of sound without needing to pivot the external ears (thanks both to the shape of the external ears and the fact that the skull is between them and so blocks sound coming from one side from being as loud to the other ear), but it’s an evolutionary holdover from our distant ancestors with ears more towards the top of the head. They needed to be able to pivot their ears to pick up the direction of incoming sound, which could make all the difference between escaping and feeding a predator.
If anyone asks you to prove evolution, just wiggle your ears. There’s no reason for humans to have that useless ability. We only do because our ancestors had it more and it hasn’t faded all the way away yet.

I wonder what percentage of Kaya’s body weight wer tail makes up?
Would some hybrid tails be stronger (if less dexterous and controllable) than arms?
In this world, have some clothing manufacturers started making clothing specifically for hybrids, especially with tails in mind? Looking at Cleo’s dress, I would think not. That would be a problem for female tailed hybrids who wear dresses.

Well, thanks to her tail, she is quite a bit heavier than she would normally be for her height and build. She doesn’t care though, it’s a good excuse to not think about her weight :p
I imagine those tails would be stronger than arms, seeing as these tails are muscle. Some manufacturers have been jumping on the hybrid clothing niche (Kai and Kaya both have pants that have a tail hole for them). Cleo just happens to like dresses that don’t have them.
I would imagine that in general, normal human height and build would be difficult to apply to hybrids, especially rare hybrids like our twin dragons. Dragons may have denser bone structure or something. They certainly have more muscle strength.
Her legs don’t look nearly muscular enough to hold that amount of tail off the ground like that.
But hey, I guess there is still time. By the time she hits 20 she’ll probably have thighs like tree-trunks.
I really like the last two panels, especially #5. Cleo’s really opening up in Kaya’s friendship. Nice job, Kaya!
