:O I wonder what the challenge is if Kaya needs Kai for it… interesting
Love how Kaya just plays along and then… “Who was that?” XD
She didn’t so much play along as just stand there.
She was busy eating.
So much for that date. 🙂 Maybe Near will enjoy coming along. It’ll give more excitement to her “What I Did Last Summer” report when school starts up again. 🙂
“Here’s the Leaning tower of Pisa, here’s the house we rented, here’s the nearby beach, and here’s someone duelling a dragon.”
“That looks like your boyfriend.”
“Oh, it’s his sister. She’s a bit more unhinged than he is.”
I think there might be a typo in Annabella’s speech bubble in panel 5. Did you mean to say “gRow up” instead of “glow up?”
I found this page on Google right after I posted that last comment: https://later.com/social-media-glossary/glow-up/
My bad! I guess I’m more out of touch with society than I thought!
Nah, I got it from memes. I only later discovered it’s based on that glow up show xD
Ha. And my “autocorrupting” brain misread it as “blow-up.” Never noticed until you mentioned it. LOL
I have never heard of “glow-up either!
Kaya’s about to blow bro’s plans
because she’s been dared.
Hopefully he’s still quite Near
and Kaya will be spared.
Can’t do it without him?
So it’s a double threat, is it?
Perhaps they’ll all go
and visit the beach for a bit?
Only Kaya can ruin his chances
when he’s not even there.
Perhaps this will bond them all…
but does dear Near even care?
Diolch yn fawr iawn.
…Sweetie!
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!!!
Now I’m curious.
I guess puberty was kind to Allesandro for him to have grown that much. Well I guess as part of their “date” near will get to watch Kai help Maya with whatever this challenge is.
Kai help Kaya! Darn autocorrupt!
Wouldn’t a scooter mobile be redundant as a means of transport? Either a scooter or a car would work…
Kaya didn’t even recognize Bionda-, er, Allessandro after two pages of conversation (more or less, mostly less)? Just how many people has Kaya been challenged by here?! Can’t blame her for not recognizing Alless, he had quite the growth spurt over the last two years… I still want to know what Kaya has been challenged to, why she needs Kai, and how badly did she kick Allessandro’s butt.
Annabella, meanwhile, has got that mischievous look on her face, is she planning on getting Kaya and Allessandro to go on a date with each other? I feel sorry for Nonna Bianca for having to deal with this in her bakery.
“My, how you’ve grown.”
Probably nearly every child has heard that comment from relatives or friends of the family who they haven’t met for a while. This may be the first time Kaya experiences that reaction herself.
The name should be “Alessandro”, not “Allessandro”. “Allessandro” is not an Italian name. 😉
And practically none that named Alessandro is called like that. It’s almost always Sandro or Ale. 😉
And “Allessandro” might not be an Italian but an immigrant.
I was gonna mention that, but sometimes people spell their own names weird.
If there’s one strip in this whole comic that fails the Bechdel test, it’s this one.
That’s /very/ loose, at best , to claim it comes close to failing.
Actually every strip with only Kay and Kaya also fails.
Are you seriously applying the Bechdel test to single pages of the comic? The test is supposed to be applied to an entire movie, not to every scene. Transferred to webcomics, it’s reasonable to apply the test to Twin Dragons as a whole, or at most to each chapter. If every page should pass the test, that would leave very little room for male characters. That becomes some kind of extreme misandristic agenda.
Consider the reverse test. If we want some work to contain at least two women who talk to each other about something other than a man, then we should also expect it to contain at least two men who talk to each other about something other than a woman. Don’t tell me that you want something to pass one test and not the other, because then you’d be campaigning against equality. A movie, novel or webcomic as a whole can easily pass both tests. If every single scene or page should pass both tests, that would impose ridiculously strict constraints on the storytelling.
So knock it off! Twin Dragons has already passed the Bechdel test with flying colors. Go find some other work that actually fails the test, and complain there.
