A personal friend, or are the dragons just famous?
A sleepy town like this, people usually know everyone.
And the twins are well known, of course ^^
I’m getting Cinque Terre vibes from this place. Am I close?
That’s one of the places I looked at for reference, yes 😀
I used many different places, but the general layout is very inspired by Cinque Terre
It seemed like it. The twins are lucky, they are immersed in old-world Italy. That place is beautiful, and being “occasional locals” is gonna be great for them.
Tails as twisted as the roads;
driving down the bay.
Following Annabella
and letting Sophia say ‘hey’.
A pleasant interaction;
better than their old town.
Here everyone carries smiles
and no-one wears a frown.
She didn’t eat before the trip?
I feel that this is planned.
Whatever food they serve…
I think Ital be grand.
(Flees flying tomatoes for the pun…)
Diolch yn fawr iawn.
And nonsense! Puns are tons of fun. As is writing poetry. Including haikus.
Looks like they’re well-known in the area. I wonder what sort of friends and/or acquaintances they have in the area.
Small town. Just being twins would be notable. It was for me, even decades later I got recognized as one of the [last name] twins. And I also visited about a month a year when I was young.
A small town where everyone knows each other, unlike where the twins spent their early childhood.
It’s nice to see the twins visit a small town where they’re liked. It’s cute to see the twins entwining their tails, though I hope they don’t get knotted together. Sofia’s must be a popular restaurant for the Romero family, given that she’s familiar with Kai, Kaya, and Annabella. I wonder what’s in the panini special, it sounds good.Hopefully the rest of the town is this friendly to our delightful dragon twins and they don’t bump into an important Mafia don.
It’s unknown whether Old Town is small enough for everybody to know everybody, but I expect that everybody there knew the Romeros. Green-and-red people with tails tend to stand out. Let’s remember that “know” does not imply “like”.
I meant knowing them personally, in spite of living in the same town as the twins for 14 years, they never got to know who the twins are personally beyond being part Dragon. They got stuck judging the twins by the color of their skin (as well as other nonhuman features) rather than by the color of their character.
Robin said their hometown is inspired by the Cinque Terre area of Italy (among others) which is one of the cliff-hugging small coastal town areas in Italy. It’s a beautiful place, but it can go from “sleepy little town” to “inundated by tourists” really quickly.
awwwww~!!!! the two tails twisted around each other and wrapped around the twins is actually super sweet and adorable!
And practical. An extra means to hold on to one another and to keep each others tail from straying or swaying out too far while riding. It also demonstrates that the twins tails are pretty flexible to be able to position them like that. I wouldn’t call them prehensile just yet, I’d say more akin to a cat’s tail rather than what we are used to seeing from reptiles.
Sofia: 🇮🇹“There’s not going to be another zombie apocalyse, is there?”
Kaya: 🇮🇹”Oh come on! That only happened one time!”
Kai: 🇮🇹”Wrong Romeros, sis.”
Panel 6: “Hey hey!” should be hyphenated. Also, what Italian word translates into “ain’t”?
Nope.
How is it even possible to be completely wrong in 95% of your “corrections”??
I’ve been kinda wondering that myself, followed closely by “what’s the point?”
Yes, what’s the Italian equal for that?
Panini!
I like how the twins’ tails are draped in panel 2.
That’ll be two tail wraps to go, then.
Kai and Kaya both wrap their tails around Sofia and carry her out the door that way.
“Oh, that wasn’t what you meant?”
A random thought…..
Before the Twins got to Hybrid City, they had never met another Hybrid before, meaning this sleepy little town has never had any other Hybrid Children before….
But I wonder if that has changed?
Probably not, otherwise someone would probably have said something like “Oh, you should go visit ***********, you have to meet the new baby of the house….” or something….
Can’t rule it out, but unlikely….
LOL I think I might need a bit more sleep…..
……Alright, a LOT more sleep…. 😋
As you said it would have to be either a baby or someone who moved there.
Given that they only visit once per year it might be a cameo character.
I’m learning Italian, and one of the things that most annoys me right now with our borrowed words from Italian is we borrowed the wrong word. It’s panino. Sigh. Everybody who talks about an Italian sandwich in English talks about a sandwiches. Grumble.
To be clear, I’m not complaining to the author, it’s my understanding this linguistic wrong was perpetrated long, long ago, possibly before I was born. I’m just grousing.
Since 1956 if my Google Fu doesn’t lie.
I don’t know about you but that is 3 years before my parent’s marriage and the birth of their first child.
Early-to-mid or late 1956?
Sorry, I have no further details.
If no one else will say it, I will. I’m absolutely loving how accidentally the artist drew Kaya in the last panel…and in general
*how accidentally stacked*
